Winmau Whizlock System?
Hi All,

A bit of information please...I use brass shafts and if I get a 'Robin hood' they break immediately or bend, because they are not that malleable they break off if I try to reshape them.

The real problem is that nobody makes them anymore and I am wondering if the Whizlock system maybe a precentative solution. Below is a recent shot of the stems and I can tell you that the depth of the slots is 10mm and the diameter is close to 3mm at the very end.

If you are a Whizlock user you may be able to suggest whether you think they may be suitable to protect the end of the stems.

(Note the end tapers down to the 3mm from about 4mm from the 10mm position.)

Do you have the weights of the caps?

Are there any similar systems that may suit?

Thank you
Dorian

It will not fit as good as with nylon shafts. They may help but would look a little "awkward" but worthy to protect your fragile stems. Why do you use brass shafts?

If you're concerned about weight, just use L Style Shell Locks or Champagne cups...I believe both work with a Whizlock punch (A Shell Lock punch is expensive).

The plastic L Style caps are lighter than the metal caps.

Shell Lock caps = have grooves for your flights to fit into to keep them at a 45 degree angle
Champagne caps = similar to Whizlock's but plastic

They have lots of different colors. But examples...

Shell lock cap with slits for flights = https://a180.co.uk/product.php/5214/l-st...lear-black
Champagne caps = https://a180.co.uk/product.php/5091/l-st...ck-6-black

No. Champagne cups are smaller and there's no puncher available for it.

the brass shafts ? do they have to stay ? i know you like the extra weight at the back , but this kind of stem is open to being broken. i wonder if a nylon shaft with some tungsten putty rolled flat and taped on the stem would work or not. it's something i may try one day i've been thinking of having a play around with that putty.

Thanks for your help anyway, I think you're right too about them looking awkward and the taper won't help on reelection Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.
I found that the brass stems balance my Hamilton's beautifully and the extra weight makes them feel fine. I have tried nylon, alloy and titanium with varying degrees of satisfaction but the brass are just right.

Try aluminum with super thick flights. Or venture into L-Style or Cosmo system.

The thing I hate about brass stems - my fingers smell bad afterwards.

Only slight smaller. Soon as you insert a stem, they're tight.

Not sure if any of these will work with brass stems though.

Here is a regular flight punched with a Shell Lock Punch using a Champagne cap...it's just slightly smaller than the Shell Lock Punch hole.

With a stem, it fits on snugly with almost unnoticeable gap except for the very rear edge (it looks a lot bigger in the pictures but it's not). I use them in a pinch with no issues

Just buy a $10 digital gram scale from Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/American-Weigh-0-...6473337318

Weigh your brass stems and then go online to look up various stem weights. There is even a large variance between plastic stems.

If you have a dart shop nearby, you could bring the scale and weight various stems to find the closest match.

I have a bunch of various stems...soon as I find out the weight of your brass stems, I'll see what I have that matches the closest.

He can apply your tungsten paste technology on hollow stems to make them heavy.

The brass stems average out at around 3.6 Gms and I appreciate your input but the difference will be quite a lot.

Many thanks

Best regards

Or the Black Widows Spider shafts. To me they are heavy already and is Robin Hood resistant.

I could see the Whizlock caps working fine on a stem like that, but Im not sure. Are they pretty much identical shape to alu stems? If so I think I have some laying around and I can put a whizlock on to see if it works.

per the Whizlock site they are .1g each.
