Eagle Power Drive Golden Eagle 21g Darts Review

Got these from Puredarts for our Premier League comp.

They cost £22.99 and are a 90% tungsten dart.

They are very similar to the John Lowe Bullet shaped dart and have a Phase 5 style grip. As you can see from the pics they are a two tone colour with the bulk of the dart been gold coated and the rear normal tungsten. I think it makes the darts stand out and look great.

The darts are actually advertised at 22g but when I weighed them they were closer to 21g as can be seen below:

They are 35mm long and 7.8mm at widest point:

The grip is a high level grip and the darts themselves are comfortable to hold, at least they were for me, but I have used the Lowe style before and quite liked it. The Golden Eagles are a limited stock range because they will not be making any more when they have sold the present stock, you will still be able to buy the normal version though.

I used my following setup when trying them out:

Here is how I grip these darts:

I only had the few throws that you see in the vid, but they are great little darts, I just felt that they were maybe a little too light for me and an extra 2 grams may have been better. The quality of the darts is great and the rings are very nicely cut.

If you thinking of trying a Lowe style dart but fancy a better grip then give these a go, I think you may be pleasantly surprised by them.

They get a FULL OF NUTZ! 4/5 from me

Great pics grip! They look alot nicer than on puredarts website. Very nice looking dart just too short and fat for my liking. I need to start using my camera instead of the Ipad for pictures.

getagrip

They are a lot better in the flesh than on the site, but I find that is often the case with many darts. Well worth a try though if any one is wanting a phase 5 style dart/grip in a lighter weight.

loopdog

great vid, are you wearing a helmet cam?

Saber

Great job Darren and pretty good throwing too.

Thanks Pops!

Darts is weird sometimes, I just had a few quick throws at doubles, nearly hit a double every throw upto 14, whats that all about?

Been playing like I have arms like a TRex for the last 2+ years then throw like that? think it has something to do with me setting my oche up right? LOL I never knew I was over 5 inches too long till yesterday

getagrip

Cheers Greg!

Ryankelly98

great review

Nucky

Very nice darts - great review as well!! If I had of seen this review a few months ago, I would have ordered a set.
+1 from me too!!!

getagrip

thanks guys, I would order some anyway, they could be worth collecting as they will be limited stock.

Nucky

I prefer a shorter barrel and always wondered why most Lowe style barrels were always fatter in the middle.
I always wanted to try a short barrel that is the same thickness throughout the gripping area, these look like it

Jimbo21

Great review mate, +1 from me.

They are a really nice looking dart.

getagrip

Thanks Jimbo, yeah they are great looking darts!

Murphy180

Is that the new a180 darts stand your board is on mate ?

getagrip

yeah its the same as that one, but I got it elsewhere, did a review of it here:

The camera actually over emphasizes the wobble, its not as bad as it seems in the vid.

Watsontotty

My brother currently uses this dart and loves them, think he was given the off a friend and county player he plays with.

getagrip

Nice, I think they are great darts, may have to get a set for keeps if they are going to be limited. Think they are out of stock of the normal tungsten ones which are a little cheaper at under £16 but should be getting more in soon.

Saber

Grips reviews are the best IMO

steph

Hi guys and gals!

I have a burning question, that´s even why I rushed, to sign up..:

First of all: Great review!
I´m hunting for the "normal" eagle powerdrive, 24g - they seem to be sold out everywhere!
You said in your review, that there´s a new batch of darts due end of the year - so - is it true, that those "normals" are not going to be re-stocked as well?

I would very much appreciate any help concerning how to get them..

Greetings
steph

Addition: I might also go for the Black-Hawk-ones, I´m just not so convinced of the zebra-look, but I would love to see a good photo - like yours above - of them.

They do really look much better for real, those eagles, I saw pics of the "normal ones" - so much better, than they seem on the sites that sell them..

getagrip

Hi Steph and welcome aboard!

I was told that the normal tungstens would be in stock in a few weeks, the gold ones when gone will not been made again, not sure about the black ones.

Which other sites have you seen them on as I think they are made by a company that is owned by Pure Darts but not 100% sure on that, I can find out for you though.

steph

Thanks for the reply!

I checked Pure Darts and "Darts and Flights", who also used to have them.
Both got the "zebras" still, but I wonder if I would like their look..

getagrip

Hmm, cant decide that for you I'm afraid , I think somebody had a pic of them who had bought them and I think they looked good from what I remember, doubt I will be able to find the pic though as I cant remember where they posted it to be honest.

basketcase

any dart looks good in the T20. even zebras =D
