Gripper 2 vs Gripper 3
Evening all,

Has anyone used gripper 3 stems? I'm currently using gripper 2 short stems and I'm having trouble keeping the flights in. I've tried lock rings but they don't make much difference.

Even tried different flights, unicorn flights, thicker flights and they still pop off.

Any suggestions would be welcome

The simplest suggestion is not to worry about it, a flight that pops off the back when it hits another dart means a less hefty deflection and closer grouping. Unless you have a bad back or knees and struggle to pick up the flight then it makes sense to have less firmly held flights.

Got to admit that the darts are practically on top of the other when they do pop off. Really close together

if you want your flights to stay in then the one80 intelite system is for you , or condors . wizlocks work well to but can still pop of and you can loose the cap . only happened to me twice though

Ah, yeah, remember seeing them on darts corner. Look a good system, but a lot of messing around

Flight punch and pigeon rings work brilliantly for me, saves a fortune in stems too

Gripper 3 are for me a huge improvement over gripper 2 they hold flights much better and can be used with a flight punch if you want they are also more flexible and less brittle

Why not use Deflecta nylon plus, punch flight.(not recommended on thin flights)
Put the flight in ones, do keep them fitted also when they are stored.
may all the doubles be with you

For me Whizlock Caps are the only way forward lol They protect your stems from robin hoods and keep your flight on tight. Still possible for them to pop off but it's not that often. Also rings are just another thing to get in the way and cause robin hoods I find.
Also I've been using Whizlock for about 9 months and haven't lost any. When the flights do pop off the caps are always still inside for me. I do use decent flights though the are firm and keep their shape all the time. My spare Caps are unused as the first three are still doing a great job. Needless to say I haven't broken a single stem.
Whizlock coupled with Storm points and your flights/stems are going to last a hell of a lot longer Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

Try normal springs in a punched flight on the Gripper 2's. They hold much better than normal slot lock rings.

I've tried using Gripper 3's with punched flights but I get way too many robin hoods.

This is what I noticed as well... it also seems like the gripper 3 has a matte finish on it opposed to the shiny finish on the gripper 2... I expect that would help holding the spring/rings in place with more texture to hold on to.
