LOOK at this pic. You're player 1 and it's YOUR turn. You have a 4 point lead and you only need 2 marks on the bull/25 to win. You're playing a best of 5 in the final and 1st place is $500 (£300). It's the deciding leg and the score is 2 all.
What do YOU do?

I would go for the win. I am assuming I am a decent player to have gotten this far. If it was my normal play I would go about it different. I would go at the 17's, hitting a 2, a single 17 and a 3. My opponent then would hit the bull and then the 17 beating me. Oh and it wouldn't be a final for cash it would be the first round and I would be heading home.

At first glance at this I think I go the safe play here and load up on points. 3 17's at the minimum puts you up 4 marks and I think adds all the pressure back onto your opponent. As this is the determining leg and for all the prize money I think that's the safe way to go. Part of me would love to go for the glory though and just try to win the game. I think in a money situation the safe point route is the way I would play it out.

First answer that comes to mind, play it "safe" and go for 17s, increase the point lead, put the pressure on him to hit 3+ bulls/25s

3 17's gives puts you at 115 points. A 55 point lead. I'd hate to battle to the end only to watch the opponent hit a 3 mark on the bulls with 2 darts then take a look at the 17 with his final dart. Oh the agony.
At 1st I thought this would be an easy answer. Go for the win. But the more I think about it I'd be extremely tempted to load up on points and hope for a treble 17 and more. But you'd be taking a chance by prolonging the game. Hmmm.

First 2 darts at the Bull, if I hit one last dart at the Bull. If I should miss both then last dart is for trip 17.

If you take one last dart at the 17 and only hit a single it doesn't matter at all. You have a 4 point lead. A single 17 gives you a 21 point lead. Sets up a potentially easy winning shot for the opponent.

With 3 darts in hand and only needing 2 bulls I would be smashing the bulls for the win, wouldn't think twice about it. Thats my train of thought but again I don't know cricket that well, I do love the bulls though Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

I agree with needing only 2 Bulls hes in trouble if I'm shooting half way decent.

It depends. If I'm feeling confident on bulls and hitting them well, I'd go for the win. If my bulls had been shaky, load up on points on 17 for breathing room. My first instinct is to shoot two bulls and end it.
Darts is like sex. When it's good, it's great. When it's bad, it's still pretty good.

I voted something else because I would throw at bull until I miss and then go for points. I am going to at least take one shot for the win though.

I would go bull first dart. If I get 2... I win. If I get 1, I'll stay there with my next 2 darts. If I MISS the bull first dart, then I'll go 17s with the second and third, and basically gamble he won't hit it...
If my first dart is really, really close and sets up as a good marker, I may stay for the win.
I think not taking a chance at bull, you are passing the opportunity to win to your opponent, and taking it from yourself.

I tend to agree with Milky. First dart at bull and if I only hit one, stay on it for the win with another one. If I miss the first dart at bull, I'm definitely going down to the 17 for points and wanting to hit at least 2 or more to give me a bit of breathing room since only hitting one 17 really doesn't improve your lot and is just wasting a dart.

I'd throw at bull first, hoping for the double. If I miss, I'm going for points. If I hit a single first dart, I will try to follow it. If bull isn't closed after second dart, points.

- If it ain't broke, you might still be able to fix it.
