99 Out - How Do You Do It?
|
In all reality I guess it doesn't matter what way you go with 99. No matter how good you are, you'll only be getting one dart at the double. But I happen to go at 19's for the option of 2 tops with my next darts. But that's only after cursing myself for leaving 99 in the 1st place. Guests cannot see images in the messages. I did the S19 & 2 x D20 recently when playing a very good player as I had no or very little chance of another throw he was on 32.
I got it and it was determination to beat him that gave me the extra confidence after the 1st D20 the 2nd D20 actually landed above and on top of it. Cheers

Well for me... I like this one, in a perverse sense because it's a real test of darting metal... and gives you a chance to be flash and show off, which ultimately for me is what Checking out should be: chance to show how good you are, how good your getting, and how big your Bollocks are.
Go 19's... if you hit a single.... Double Top all the way. Show 'em you mean business. Or... if you hit single 19 to leave 80... you've now got a first class ticket for a route to 32... Some might say, NO NO! you should throw for treble 20 to leave D10, or at least a route to D20. But for me your Primary Route formula should be to 32 rather than D20. D20 being a secondary route. If you're in the mood, throw for T17 to leave 48... route into 32.. Or if you feel like being Flash, throw your T17, hit it to leave 48, forget your route to 32 and check out with a T12, D6 combo.... Have that! or throw for T15 to leave 54... route to 36. If you hit single 15 to leave 84 then throw for T16 to still leave you 36. 99 is, and should be a lot of fun, yes on the straight and narrow of keeping your Formulas simple perhaps some think 99 a mistake to leave, but this is 501, learn to use and be confident with all the board.... a T19, 10 for D16 should be acheivable... single 19 to T16, D16 combo should err on the simpler side of things... if you start thinking on the Oche that you've made a mistake, your Darts are gonna start shaking & wobbling. The Only mistake in 501 is missing yer number, not leaving a number.
No matter what it is I need to hit a triple. So I start with 20, baam 79 then 19.. if no triple Then tried to convert them to d20 or d16..
i always start on 20's as i feel i am more likely to hit that. if i hit single i will go for T13 to leave my favourite D20
19s.
S19 D20 D20 is a bit for show, though. S19 T20 (and D10 or another S10 for three darts at D20 next round) is ok most of the time. S19 T16 will just leave you with 64 in case of S16, so you probably get down to 48, giving just two darts on a double next round. It's the same old discussion with 80 left. I don't like the 20s here... T20 is fine if you get it. S20 will leave you with 79. No way for "double for double", but that's a minor. But downside is: You should play T19 for D11, which is just an inferior double compared to D20 or even D16. You might consider going for T13 to leave D20, but a S13 will leave 66, which is basically another three dart finish - as the 64 above. I also consider the remaining scores after failures on the 19s better: 78, 92, 90, 96 play nicer than 84, 94, 96, 98. They need less darts, leave better doubles. YMMV. I curse then go whatever way I choose in that moment, I have no set way to go.
My normal route is to go for 19s first but hit single 3 instead, I then swear a bit before missing my targets with the 2nd and 3rd darts as well.

Of course you must Hit your T17 otherwise you're left with 62.... throw for T10 with your last Dart, get it you got 3 darts for 32.... The more unorthodox routes for me a far more beneficial to your Dart developement. |
