Target Chisnall Pixel Grip 22g darts review

Vid link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBAziYq0-Ww&feature=youtu.be

Thanks to David The Spartan for selling me these darts! Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

I was going to buy a set anyway as I liked the look of them but could not make my mind up on which weight to try, guess DTS decided that for me lol Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

Anyway these are the 22g Chisnall Pixel grip darts from Target, they are also available in 24g and are a 90% tungsten dart incorporating the pixel grip in normal and smaller size. Check the Target site here for more info: Chizzy Pixel

The darts are supplied in Targets new slimmer packaging which is better than the bulkier old style I think. They are set up out of the box with short Pro Grip shafts and 100 micron Chizzy vision flights.

The cheapest price I can find for these is here: £44.99

As you can see from the pics its a great looking dart and has a normal sized pixel grip at the front with a smaller size at the rear. I actually prefer the smaller grip better but the front pixel grip is still nice and that's where I grip the dart, the middle is smooth so if you grip there then you have a very small amount of tack from the gold ti coating but its not as grippy as the rest of the barrel. Overall I would say the grip is about a high medium level.

Detailed Dimensions:

Weight:

The barrels were quite close and just 6 hundredths of a gram difference between heaviest and lightest but the lightest was 1.4 tenths under stated weight, not enough to notice by me though Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

Weight of the full setup as supplied:

Balance:

The rear was drilled out about 10mm and the balance with nothing attached was a little in front of centre:

With the supplied set up in moved central:

Conclusion:

I think these are a great looking dart, they look better in the flesh actually. I was not sure about getting these for any other reason than the looks as I have tried the other Chizzy darts before and never got on too well with them. Sadly I still don't get on so well with these either. I first started to throw them as they came supplied and although my first throw (as often happens!) hit the T20 I felt they were just not flying quite right, I was getting some spiralling through the air. So I changed to my medium stems and they were much better with those but something still did not feel right, I think its the short 25mm points, I can probably do with them been a little longer maybe 3 to 5 mm longer as I rest my finger on the point and found it kept flicking off on these short points.

I did hit another Robin Hood on the video too lol so they were getting easier to throw the more I played with them but felt like I was having to work hard to get them flying right. Its a real pity as I think they are a great quality dart and the grip is very nice and I especially like the small pixel grip at the rear, I hope Target bring out a dart with just that grip alone Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

The balance of the dart actually felt very nice just slightly in front of the gold band but I gripped it closer to the front, so its hard to be sure but I think a lot will depend on how you throw the dart, if your a front middle or rear gripper they may suit any grip style but I think they will work best with a more direct throw as opposed to my loopy style.

Lovely darts but not quite right for me sadly.

Summary Ratings:

Looks: 9 (look great!)
Grip: 7.5 (on a 1 to 10 Scale, 10 been severe grip)
Weight match: 7.5 (fairly close)
Quality: 8.5 (nice quality overall)
Value: 6.5 (Would prefer to see them cheaper to be honest)
Suitability for me: 6 (not quite there for me sadly)

I would like to know why Dave the Spartan got rid of them, more out of curiosity than anything. What didn't he like about them?

I will take them off your hands Darren! Great review mate. They look really nice but I think the other Target version is actually a prettier dart, and I think the a180 version feels better to throw than the Target version - excluding this new as I haven't tried it yet

Another top notch review Daz. I really like the look of these new grip types. I hope to get a chance to give the pixel grip a try soon.

Cheers Shawn and I will happily sell them to you but Majeek already asked me after David had sold them, so if he has changed his mind then they are yours Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

Thanks Tommy! is there no shops or other people's where you can try them? I think its a grip that not everyone likes.

to answer the ?
they are probably one of the best looking darts out there!
personally ive gone off straight barrel darts. threw these for no more than 20mins different set ups nothing made them feel comfortable.
loved the grip but just not the way they flew, had them on pre-order for a few weeks. in my head i probably built them upto being the best dart around from there looks and when they finally arrived ended up dissapointed.
Play like it means nothing when it means everything

Excellent review Darren. They're probably one of the nicest looking darts out there - wrong shape for me though - something tapered and front weighted and I'd consider a set of gold pixel darts - I've ordered a couple of sets of those Chizzy vision flights though. +1.

Thanks David, I just had a few short throws again, I usually like to try on different days, think today is a good arm day actually and they flew much better today but still had my finger flicking off the point a bit Guests cannot see images in the messages. Thanks mate, I think I would like a front tapered style in the smaller pixel grip myself, with green pixels too lol!
