I was thinking of doing this the other day. But my idea was wiping the outer barrel with mineral spirits while it was still wet. The sanding idea seems superior. For someone who is constantly trying to give their 10 sets of darts their own persona, yeah, this is gonna start happening, like tomorrow.

Yeah I like the sandpaper tip, I used to go carefully in the grooves and it would take ages!

By tomorrow, I meant today. When you are coming off night shift, today seems like it is still yesterday.

I did this with red white and blue, didn't use sand paper though i just chucked my point up in a cordless drill and wiped it with a solvent rag before it dried while spinning. Painted it that way too.

I find 400/600 wet & dry finishing paper (used dry) better than actual sand paper. I also have a piece of rod tapped 2Ba, screw into dart & lock with a nut( don't bottom rod into dart), mount in a variable speed electric drill, with lock nut right up to chuck, mount a strip of paper on a flat strip of wood ( lolly stick is good) run dill at slow speed & just touch paper flat on to barrel repeat as necessary.

My friend something similar to this with one of his old set...
He sanded out the old paint then cleaned them out with alcohol.
Then used some kind of metal strainer.
Then he use some oil metal burner and got this awesome fusion color effect.
I thought it looked kinda cool. Not sure if he still has the set tho.
Ill ask him if he does so I can show a pic.

Pretty Neat - I have borrowed some actual coloured nail varnish to colour in a set of darts... and the results were pretty good. (Glittery red to match my bloodshot eyes! Icelandic vodka )
I used it on one of my many basic multi ring Navigator 2 darts, but I sanded "up and down" making the tungsten almost white as the micro scratches catch the light. Certainly made a 9 quid set of darts different.
I really need to buy a camera!
