Movement
Was just looking around YouTube at some dart videos and came across this.

Somebody may have shared it before, but it's very interesting.

What stands out to me on every single one of these top of the line players is the movement... The arm moves... Nothing else.

Some of them are no solid it look like the arm is computer generated.

Now I need to film myself!

That's exactly the filming I need to do.
Pretty sure I have an ipad app that will do it.

yeah that's all that needs to move really. I am working on trying to make my arm movement more steady, I do get these annoying jumps/jerks sometimes that I cant seem to prevent but I know when I get that nice straight back and forth motion the darts have a much better chance of hitting the target, its just my last bit too that needs some work - the release!

Ok I am pretty sure it is just me, but I hate watching slow motion dart throws. Regular speed, for reference, fine but slow motion is just aggravating to watch, and I suspect 60% useless as far as your own throw.

Mensur Suljovic is the obvious exception to this rule.  And James Wade has a tendency to rise up on some of his throws.

I think Mensur is the exception that proves the rule (and Jocky Wilson too)...

While I think every throw is different, the fact that the vast majority of players at the bleeding edge of darts have this in common suggests pretty strongly that this is something us lowly amateurs should strive to do. Wade is a good example of what happens when other things move apart from the elbow, it is nothing good.  Also watch what happens when Chizzy adds some shoulder into his throw too.
