And the good news is that this friday the shop organizes a dart tournament so that the players get to know each other (free entry). So I say to myself that this is what I have been waiting for lets get to work. I intend to take place to this tournament but I need to practice. The only drill/excercise that I have done so far is the A1 excercise from flightschool, and some weekly challenges. I have never done any excercise for my doubles and finishing EVER... So guys please tell me some excercises that I should do in order to have a fighting chance tomorrow night.
Lastly this club anounce that from September the annual championship of the club will begin!

You don't have alot of time so I would Definitely get to work on your doubles pal...routines like bobs27 or simply going round the board on doubles are a good start..

Then try finishing combos, maybe start on 60 and try finish it in three darts..if you fail drop your starting score by 1, if you succeed increase it by ten. This should get your brain working for the smaller finishes and practice your big single numbers.

At the club tomorrow night you can throw at the treble 20 etc to get used to the throw but deffo focus on doubles before you get there imo.

And good luck pal, let us know how you get on

That looks nice over there mate.

Practice on your weak double by throw T20 and then your weak double
may all the doubles be with you

My father Merlin, once told me that "You should end up pointing to what you were aiming at when you've released the Dart."

game you can play for your doubles is like round the clock doubles but with a twist, starting at one and working up to 20 (or alternatively select a few doubles that you particularly want to practice on) hit a double then move on to the next. The twist is if you miss you have to miss on the outside of the double, if you miss on the inside of the double ie the big number you move back to the previous double.
This can help with making the "professional" miss as you stay on the double instead of hitting the big number and having to move to another double.
Its fun
Also as Ham suggested, work on your out shots
As they say in German, have good success! Luck suggests you weren't in control and good success suggests you were prepared and deserving! and most importantly have fun!

Pretty much what hamo said. Bob's27 is the best thing for doubles, at least for me. I do change it up a bit. I do the basic version and every few goes I take it all the way whether I go negative or not.

Good luck with the tournie.

I would not get too worried about your skill level as its your first comp so your likely going to be nervous and that could have a plus or minus on you game any way, so I would say just enjoy the experience and do your best and have fun with it Guests cannot see images in the messages. yea as Gripo says, just enjoy it, nerves can be a b1tch but are easily overcome by having fun. with one days practice I would just go tops tops tops and throw in a D16 every now and then lol
Seriously though shooting tops makes you follow thru so put it in your practice arsenal.
Cant remember where I heard that before, think it was a tip I heard from some old bloke.

CALLED LARRY!!!

Seriously good tip though, thanx Larr

Good advice so far. Hell, it's free entry, so you're not out any money, get to play with fellow darters, test your skill level against them and get some experience in the mean time. Sounds like a win/win situation no matter how you fare in the event.

By the way-----nice venue.

Guys I just got back from the tournament. We were 32 players. First match I won 2-0 legs. I gues my Average was over 50 under 60. My finishing was off just 10%. In the second match I lost 2-0 legs I didnt have even 1 treble 20 and not even one attempt on the doubles. I had an average of 45. I felel sad cause the guy that beat me used aone 20 gram brass darts and he was preety good on the doubles 33%. He had an average of 47 and I was wayback on the score. In the second match 5 of my darts scored 0 and many darts strayed on the 5 and 1. Any advice so I can become better? Also I really liked the balance of these 20 gram darts and I myself when I picked them up threw good. The darts I used where my wolframs. For the record my highest score was 125 and my checkouts were both double 5.
