Cuesoul

Just got my new toy :-)
The courier man dropped off my new toy earlier so thought I'd post a few piccies - say hello to the London Narrow 5's board. Big thanks to DC for the quick delivery.

I hadn't played on one of these since the late 70's back in the East End until I saw one in one of our away venues one night. Had a few chucks on there and decided I wanted one lol. I'm not 100% sure but I believe there is still a league in East London that uses this board.

What are the differences between this and a normal board:

1 - the segments are wider

2 - there are only numbers 5, 10, 15 and 20, with three of each placed round the board

3 - the doubles and trebles are half the height of a normal board. There is another variation with normal height doubles and trebles called the Ipswich board, but that is a lot easier to play on than this one

4 - the worst difference, but unavoidable given the popularity I guess, are it is a stapled board with round wires

5 - the number ring around the board is actually painted on as opposed to a metal ring - so no need to take it off when turning the board

Now for some more piccies:

Had a few throws and got a quick ton

and followed it up not long afterwards with a 180

and the best part of having 3 sections of each number - you can get a 180 using the different trebles lol

I've had about 20-30 minutes play on it, and apart from a couple of places the holes look to heal up pretty damned quick.

What games can be played on this - instead of the usual 01 games you play 05 instead - ie 305, 505, 1005 etc, either straight in or double in, and double out.

Hot Damn nice darts Mike- those the new 23gm Rasta's?

They are Larry - I'm using them as my main match darts at the moment as well. Played on Wednesday and hit a 180 in the warm up, and also managed to hit one during my singles game - they are really nice darts.

That is an odd looking board. I can't hit regular doubles let alone those thin ones.

What games do you play on it?

I added that at the bottom of the post Hoppy - instead of say a normal game of 501 you play 505, and 301 becomes 305.

This really is a fun board - I've hit another 180, and if you cover the 60 bed with your first dart there's two other 20 sections you can go for Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

Dont forget the bull is set up 2 " inches lower and you throw from 8 feet, well you did when we played in the 5's league in the east end of London in the early 1980's

I think it was when I played a few times back then - I've just got it set up the same height and distance as a normal board - too much bother moving the wall clamp every time I want to use this, and I don't really have the space to put it up elsewhere in the flat.

Each of my boards is mounted on a cut out piece of MDF 10 mm thick so I have only 1 screw in the wall and can just lift off and on in seconds. Just make up another backing board with the hole in the required place
