Ok here is my review of the Nutz darts.
Obviously our regular members will know plenty about these darts already but for those who are new or a guest reading this I will proceed as normal Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.
The darts have been made by Retriever Sports who run numerous brands of which these are made in association with their Elkadart brand.
At present only 50 sets have been made and to make sure that those 50 sets have some collection value they have each been numbered from 1 to 50.
The pics in this review and for most of the video review (except the throwing) are of set number 1. I will be holding a raffle for set 1 very soon, so you will have a chance to win it Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.
The darts are £24.99 plus whatever the postage is and come in there own Darts Nutz branded packaging and flights, which is great! The barrels are 90% tungsten and 24g.
I came up with the design some time ago and I drew it on MSpaint:

I was not sure what I was going to do with it at first, I knew I liked the mini shark grip so wanted a dart with that then I got the idea of making a design that had the chance to suit as many people as possible and I felt that 24g was a good middle ground and that a straight barrel dart was the most versatile for the different grips/throws, so thats basically how the idea started.
I showed Dan the design and he was kind enough to draw it up on a CAD package and came up with this fantastic drawing:

Dans drawing is what made me want to go ahead with the dart really as it seemed to bring the dart to life and it just looked so good, so cheers Dan! Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.
So a few month later and a nice box arrived with 50 sets of Darts Nutz darts!

As you can see the barrels have a mixture of mini shark grip, rings, grooves and single shark grip features. I would say it is possibly just verging onto a high level of grip but I dont find it the kind of aggressive grip that is off putting, for me its just right really.

Dimensions:
Length:
The length is just how I wanted it to be so its great for me, I often find most darts that I get along with best are around this length:

Width:
The mini shark grip sections are a little bit thinner than the rest of the barrel but I did not want the barrels to be too thin, I think again its just about in the Goldilocks zone for me and just right Guests cannot see images in the messages. Weight:
I did ask for the darts to be 24g and they are only about 2 tenths over so thats great, they are not too badly matched also but with all the cuts and groove on the barrels its certainly close enough.

Weight of the full set up as supplied:

Balance:
With nothing attached I would say the barrels are slightly front of centre:

With the supplied set up it moves central:

I gripped these on the front mini shark grip section:

Darts landed in the board fairly flat, certainly not as tail up as usually but still a slight angle upwards:

Conclusion:
Its fair to say that the darts perform quite well for me but then I designed them with most of the ideas I like in a dart. I could have made them even more suitable for me by giving them a bit of a front taper but I wanted them to be even and straight so they would be better suited to the majority of people who would buy them.
They look much better than I was expecting and I really do like the mini shark grip sections so was very pleased with how they came out. As the supplied set up is what I use anyway, they flew very stable through the air for me and I have no complaints in that respect.
I think the darts are very good overall and I am enjoying throwing them, I feel that the grip should wear well but could soften around the edges from contacts but should still remain grippy enough.
The nice thing with the barrel design is it has numerouse section that can be used as datum points for locating your grip, it would have been nice to have had a little extra grip on the rear for extreme rear grippers but we had to have the logo and numbers etched some where so had to lose a couple of grooves from the rear.
Its a design that will suit many people although some may want something a little thinner or longer and obviously different weights, which is possibly something we could incorporate in future releases fingers crossed Guests cannot see images in the messages. I'm really pleased with these and want to thank Elkadart for their help! Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.
