This is a review of the Voks Reaper 22g El-C darts. The darts are 90% tungsten and come in 3 weights 22, 25 and 27 grams.
These are in the same range of moveable point darts as the Nobu that I recently reviewed here: NOBU REVIEW its called the EL-C system.
I have posted the same pic of the diagram of the system below, the point is free moving within the barrel which is hollowed out and is just narrow enough at the top end to stop the flanged point from going any further:

All the EL-C system darts can be converted to a fixed point set up with the addition of the EL-C conversion kit. Basically this is a rubber stopper that sits in between the shaft thread and the top of the point. You can also convert it to a spring loaded point. You can also buy replacement points in different lengths; XShort, Short, Standard, Medium, Long, XLong.

The darts retail for $65 and can be bought from the Voks site here: REAPER
The darts came in some plain packaging with a Voks hard plastic case, short alloy shafts and Voks standard shape flights and a mini Voks wallet. There is some new packaging in the process of been designed and made so its likely this will change soon.

The darts have a kind of dumbell shape with been thin in the middle and thincker at the ends. The grip is a classic knurl grip which is more grippy than it first looks. The middle section is made of a series of grooves and rings and is also grippier than you would imagine, as the middle is narrower it also feels a bit like a middle scallop but is great if you are a middle gripper as its a very good datum point for your grip. I would say its about a high medium level of grip.
Below shows how the point is when its hit the board, it hits the bottom of the shaft:

Balance:
Without the shafts and flights the barrels are very slightly front weighted but not by much:

With the supplied set up the balance is right in the middle:

I gripped these on the front knurl as it felt more natural to me there, I did try the middle as can be seen in the video and felt that the darts flew better with that grip but its not natural to me:

Conclusion:
These are a slightly strange dart for me to throw, they are a dart that I think will suit middle grippers best. They are a nice classic knurl grip but with my front grip and the fact that I tend to have a slightly skewed release (probably due to my injury still) I think the shape and balance of the dart tended to accentuate my release error and would kind of spin to the side. When I tried throwing from the middle they flew a lot better balanced through the air which kind of makes me think they would be best for middle grippers but I cant really blame the darts as I know its more my fault than the darts.
I think the darts have a nice look about them and they are very nicely machined again by Voks. I know the movable point is not everyones cup of tea but the EL-C system can be converted to fix point, but for me these felt more solid to throw than the Nobu darts, the points must be very close fitting within the barrel on these and I did not feel the need to try the conversion kit. My fingers did not turn on the point either, as long as it was in the set position there was no problems at all and you could not tell it was a moving point!
They are great quality set but I don't think the balance is quite right for me, should be perfect for middle grippers though Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.
