Does anyone here still use them?
Soft (Re-seal) flights
|
No. I have a few sets that came with ancient eBay darts. I like the translucent jelly-ish look of them. But they just sit in a Ziploc along with the Crafty Cockneys and other artifacts.
I have about 500 of them now... no idea if anyone would even want them.
I used to use the harrows crafty cockney ones years ago. I didnot know they were still available
Soft flights are made of a flexible plastic sheet, preprinted with a variety of designs and then folded into shape. Adhesive (glue) holds the layers of plastic together. If the flight is torn during use, the layers can be pressed together with fingers and the adhesive will "heal" the tear. Another benefit of this type of flight is that a Soft Flight will often flex out of the way if another dart hits it. These flights are available in hundreds of bright, attractive designs. Also known as "Reseal Flights". Soft Flights have fallen out of favor in recent years, and are now rarely available

I got mine in a pile of old job lot stuff I got through a UK connection and then sold off piecemeal. My pile was far less grand than Milky's, I assure you.
Mine is a lot of stuff from a shop that closed years and years ago. I am guessing at least 10 years.
Used to use them when I played back in the late 70's/early 80's -they were great as they used to last ages.
To give you an idea of how good they were, the company I played for had several teams in the insurance league in the 70's and I used to play for 3 or 4 of those a week, plus also down the bar lunchtime for an hour. I played for them for about 4 years, and when I started playing for them I was given half a dozen sets of the company flights to use and I still have two sets left today. I also played for a couple of other teams as well but I used different flights for those, but they lasted just as long. I'm guessing that because they were so good manufacturers weren't seeing a profit on them, so they came up with the poly flights we use now which last nowhere near as long, just so they could shift more units (04-05-2014, 04:52 PM)Milkysunshine Wrote: I have about 500 of them now... no idea if anyone would even want them. First time poster on here but I wonder if you would be willing to let some of those flights go? If so what kind of designs are they. I am getting low have some special custom ones with my name on them and would love to keep them for important matches and use some others for practice I have been going to nylon lately to keep from using up my soft reseal ones.

I have a bunch. I would definitely be interested in selling. There's many different styles. I can take a picture for you.
