This is a review of the Winmau 2014 model of Mark Websters darts, they are available in 3 weights 21,23,25 grams and are 90% tungsten, they retail for £23.90, this is a review of the 23g model.
When I first seen these darts I liked the look of them so was eager to give them a try, they come in the usual Winmau packaging with 3 medium nylon stems with stem rings, 3 Mark Webster standard shape flights and supplied with a plastic case and point protector. The inlay on the packaging has a handy check out chart printed on it:

The barrels have a nice classic look to them with a bull nose and ring grip pattern, but there is a kind of indented scallop where the thin ring grip is, I think that grip is a kind of wave grip but its not very grippy, I would say overall the grip of the barrels is only a low medium:

As you can see from the pics the thin wave style grip is also at the rear of the barrel and there is a wide smooth section with the spider logo on it. I presume Webby must hold the dart on or near these thin wave grips but I was holding it near the front on the normal style rings.

The barrels are within 9 100th's of gram matched and at worse 3.5 tenths over 23g. So fairly closely matched, the box does state the darts will be within 0.1 of a gram matched but +/- 0.2 of the nominated weight, I weighed them at just slightly over that but my scales will not be as accurate as theirs so I am not going to complain over that! Its more than close enough for my feeble skills! Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.
Balance point with nothing attached seems to be a little front weighted which I thought was curious as the indented scallop no doubt takes away some of the front of barrels weight:

Balance with the supplied set up moves it closer to centre point:

Conclusion:
I was kind of disappointed with these darts, not so much in the darts themselves but more so that they did not seem to suit me. I was looking forward to trying them and felt sure I would get on well with them but for some reason they did not work well for me. Whether its the balance of the dart or me just not throwing them right I can't say really. I got some to fly nicely but most of them had some fishtailing and were landed a bit slanted in the board. I tried throwing them from the slightly scalloped part but it was worse. I think its just me and they just don't suit my throw which is a shame as I liked the look of them. I think they would probably suit players who have a flatter harder throw than me but it could be just that they don't suit my front grip and loopy throw Guests cannot see images in the messages. They are nice looking darts and its a classic shape and size barrel but I wonder if that slight indented scallop has affected the balance a little?
