Hi all.
No doubt those who are in Facebook would have read that I have started back playing after 18 months lay off due to personal family issues as well as shifting.
Well on average I am doing 2 hour round trip each week to play darts and this week just gone I started playing Premier league.. threw absolute crap! Flicking to the left, my dominant eye deciding it didnt want to look at the board and my left eye trying to focus. Arm wobble and worst thing of all 10% finishes over 6 matches! For and against was 4/9.. Won 1 out of 6 matches.
dont get me wrong I was to quote taylor "over the moon" to be playing twice a week be devistated at my performance. I know my head needs to be clear and away from things at home (not easy if you knew what is happening) and on top of that I am using my old Harrows Priestleys which are worn and down to 23grams (I think).. so am sending out an SOS to anyone who can help me regain my confidence, throwing and a new set of darts.. before anyone says I wont use Barry Jouannet Darts as they dont have the grip and are not my style.. been messing around with PUMA barrels but no joy with thier barrels.. yes they do make a good item but the barrels arent for me.
Thanks for your time
See you at the oche'

I think maybe that when you step to the ooche, instead of thinking about how much struggle it took you to get back to shooting, maybe if you focus more on how good it feels to be at the line again. So that when you lift your arm, you feel yourself relaxing, because you know that you are in your "happy place" or comfort zone. You are in your element, and it feels good. Forget about what it took, or whatever else might be going on at the moment. All you think of when at the line is how good it feels to be throwing darts. You know you have the ability and confidence and years and years of throwing. The rest will come back with instinct regardless of whatever dart you are using.

Sounds to me like you need a couple more matches under your belt as well given the length of time you have been out.
I gave up for around 25 years and started again about 4 years ago - the first 3 or 4 weeks back playing were frustrating as I knew where the darts were supposed to be going, but unfortunately the darts themselves weren't listening. Luckily they started listening and are pretty good nowadays for the level I play at.

Unfortunately before we shifted I did alot of cleaning of walls and lifting, I did the same when we got here.
I ended up with golfers elbow and with 5 doctors practices here I couldnt get one to give me a quarterzone injection (I knew from past tense that was what I needed), so finally the practice we now go to I got this new thing (doctors dont do it anymore).
I had to go for an ultrasound of the elbow and when whatever was seen by the guy and the doc the doc then injected quarterzone to be 100% accurate!
Within 1 hour max my forearm was free and I didnt have the burning of tight muscles.. I do know though that I have some 'bump/lump" on the side of my elbow-prob arthur... anyway I beleibe I have a weak elbow, perhaps all muscle memory has gone and its time to reinvent Wazza's throwing style.. ha ha, dont think I can afford to go through anymore darts!
Grip.. want to lend me some, mate, pal buddy? Not the power darts though.. ewww

I got fed up with doctors telling me that there was nothing they could do for golfers elbow. Just put up with it and it would get better eventually was what I was told. Decided to have acupuncture privately and after 2 sessions pain was gone. Can't say it would work for everyone but it sure did for me.
As for being back to darts, get a few more games in and don't get discouraged, it will come back. Lots of practice too. Good luck.

totally believe in reverse psychology.
Its not the fact that you have had time off, or your private life is in turmoil, it just that you are krap, plain and simple,
hehehe does that help Waz Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images. (<---- smiley milky)
Seriously though, its nice to hear from ya Waz as we need more of us Aussies on the forum.
Being a meat worker of 25 years and seeing (and been through) what fellow meat workers have been through I am assuming that "golfers elbow" is like "tennis elbow" (just an assumption). In my industry "tennis elbow" is extremely common and gets the blame from any particular individual as being tennis elbow for decades before they realise that it is actually their "ULNAR NERVE". This problem shows all the symptoms of tennis elbow and is often misdiagnosed as such by 99% of the QUACKS out there, the only remedy to fix it is surgery, not what you want to hear but better than patching up a problem that can be fixed with a knife.
Best O luck cobber

I'm a big believer in acupuncture, and I'm lucky enough to have a great practitioner (not all are). He helps me with both my nickel affliction and carpal tunnel/tennis elbow. And a guy I met in his waiting room told me about this great set of therapeutic exercises:
See if you're as flexible as the lovely young lady :-).
26's so far this year: I've already lost count. :-)

BTW, Golfers elbow if when the "affliction" is on the inner side (body side) of the elbow.. does hurt every now and then to remind me its still about but I just looked at my Ultra Sound reports.. nothing out of the ordinary there except inflamation (which the quartazone took care of).

I feel your pain Wazza. I have 2 golfer's elbow's at the moment because when me moved house recently, I did most of the lifting on my own. Now Im paying the price for that bright idea.
I am contemplating accupuncture. Have had it for something else before and it worked.
