Wow that was an amazing performance by Luke Humphries in the final.
Just unplayable in his demolition of MVG there.
He looked so relaxed and fluent throwing nobody could have withstood that onslaught.
Very few have ever produced those numbers in a final.
Ominous for the field going forward.

I have read bunches on this forum about playing relaxed.  Cool hand makes me understand it at a whole
different level.  He is a treat to watch. I honestly have no idea how he holds it together like that.
Pretty class act in victory and in defeat.

Just got to keep Luke away from a plate of boiled eggs. -
Maybe if MvG had some hair... he wouldn't have been gobbled up!
maybe.

He was unplayable for basically the whole tournament, his weakest performance being the 99avg he threw in the semis.

He's easily the best player in the world at the moment, and has been for the better part of a year.

How anyone can call him boring boggles my mind.

I watch his throwing action and I swear it is smoother than Beaton's and Barney's. What I saw was a real conflict of styles of throw. MVG has that forceful throw with a good bit of body lean and the serious wrist action to propel his darts to the board, and I think that has played a role in his issues with his back and wrist over the years.

Luke's throwing action, on the other hand, looks almost effortless and something he can do for many years with little to no physical issues to hamper him. His scoring and finishing prowess is uncanny.

Those type averages just show how complete his game is at the moment. All MVG could do was play the spectator, just like the rest of Luke's opponents of late.

I find that when I watch PDC darts, which happens to be hours on end.  I then go to the practice board and I
bring with it an intensity which does my throw and practice no good.  The intensity that so many players bring to the
board can get into a guy very sneaky like.
It helps me so much to watch guys like Humphries, Barney, Beaton, Smith.  They make the game look graceful and easy at times.
Reminds me to just let the body do the work, not force the dart into the board.

After all one only has to send the dart a few feet right into the target he wants.  Right?

Don't think that Luke's stance is effortless, at all.

Luke is standing full frontal to the oche, what will give a lot of straint on the body too. 45° is easiest, everything going to either 0° or 90° will result in more straint on the body.
His back foot is also right behind his front foot. I did try to mimic that once, and just fell over. You need to have perfect balance to achieve that.

His throw however is frighteningly perfect. I always imagine some robotic sounds to go with it.
