Hope you answer my ? faster than my ? to 180.
So- I have a new set of Whitlocks 26g. As from today.
Were the barrel meets the shafts, on the Barrel is a small lip.
Maybe a lathe lip, its just enough to catch my finger on the way through.
So what is the best way to get rid of this lip.?
Do you have a QC on all Darts or random checks.??
Never had this before, and I don`t like it.

Hi Kev,

Difficult for me to comment without actually seeing the darts. Firstly, there are many QC procedures at all stages of manufacture so at some stage all darts will have been checked which is why we rarely get complaints. These checks are not random but specifically put into place to identify any problems that may arise quickly.

Regarding the problem, there is an unwritten industry standard that darts that the 'abutment' diameter (where the barrel meets the stem) should be around 5.7mm to 5.8mm in order to suit most stems on the market. It has to be noted that some companies do not follow this and some stems are actually manufactured undersize.

If you would like to e-mail me some pics I should be able to identify the problem for you. lee@nodor-darts.com

Cheers,

Lee

Hi Lee, Thank you for the reply.(Nice)
I do not have a good enough camera to Show a small lip. As it is only on one dart, I was only hopeing for info to say use a very fine wet/day paper ,like 1000 grade ,(using it wet),.

Will this damage the dart??
Or is the tunsten to hard?
Very nice to have you arround.

Hi Kev,

Tungsten is not too hard for wet and dry, it's very similar in characteristics to stainless steel and can be filed and polished.

A small needle file would also do the trick.
