This was a new board that was coming out at the time, it was said to allow for higher scoring.
Its interesting because I read the letters pages in following issues were some people were complaining that darts at that time was getting boring because too many 180's were being scored! Hate to think what they would think if they could have seen the future then.
One person also said that with the new board from Dunlop and the new No-Bounce darts from Staymaster that it was like cheating and they should be making the game harder and not easier. How times have changed then when we get so many 9 darters these days?
