Ancient Darter with “new” wisdom...
Reading your post about finding your box of weird table leg looking Steel tip darts, your passing mention of O-rings was like a clarion call!

Retired paintballer as I am, I have dozens of different sizes of the perfect o-rings AND, a set of old darts that have become awkward and, somehow, too smooth to throw.

Voila!  Gonna give them a workout in the morning, but early indications point to a massive improvement in grip for these unidentified darts.  Thanks AD!

Lol!

You're welcome mate!

If you want grip,  but want the bump to almost 'vanish',  use more pieces, of a slightly smaller and thinner oring. E.g., say now you're using 3 X 8 by 1.5, try 5 X 6 by 1.

Those barrels remind me of a Durro I had a long time ago, even before my box of old steels! But they had a slip on shaft though.

Wow!  So apparently I’ve been trying to throw these odd darts wrong for 30+ years!

Fooling around with these orings today, I eventually realized that these darts, that have all their “grip” up front, want to be thrown from the rear 1/3!  Crazy.

After monkeying with shaft length and flight shape for a while, I wound up with this...

I had been wondering if the orings would wind up interrupting my “stackability”!  Lol.  I cannot recall seeing two darts any closer together than those two in the double bull.  The points are literally touching!  :p

Anyway, thanks again for the fun suggestion and the cool idea, Ancient Darter!

Cheers,

My pleasure Drum! Glad it's working! You can also try stacked rings of different dimensions and either create a stop, a gentle slope, or even a simulated 'scallops' or 'ridges'. And they're all still grippy!

Stacking and grouping has never been a problem with rings on the barrel. But sometimes you hood a ring! Lol!

Look at the barrels...I've done all of the above, but don't think they're in this thread.  Anyways, have a peek. You might get some ideas.
