Original twomlows?
Can anyone confirm if the darts pictured are original 80’s twomlows. I’m thinking there is a chance due to the deeper and wider first groove and a bit more of a taper over the later slimmer version. Any advice would be welcome.

I'd say originals as they have two sets of 8 rings for each barrel and the later ones are seven rings IIRC.

Thanks. Didn’t know that

You are correct, just checked the Unicorn Books of Darts. Before 1988 they had two sets of 8 rings and after that it’s 7. It also says they are 72% Tungsten in the 79-81 books, after that it says high grade tungsten alloy.

I didn’t know this either, had to check it out though.

Just checked out the 1980 book. They have same number of rings as mine. A set I bought about 6 years ago has fewer rings

I have a set of 24g gold Twomlovs from the early to mid 90s. Don’t know if being a different weight has the same ring pattern. I’ll have to dig them out and check if they have the same amount of rings or fewer. I’ll post a pic when I find them

My gold 24g have two sets of 7 rings. I guess just the older ones have two sets of 8 rings.

Thanks. Mine are defo pre 1988 but still don’t know if they are 72% as in pre 1982 or if they are higher %
Unicorn didn’t specify what % they were after 1981 only listed them as high grade tungsten?

The 1990 Book of Darts seems to be the first to list the Twomlows as 90% tungsten [only golden versions of signature darts are shown in the catalog].

Maybe you could measure the original ones and compare them to the newer set you got. If the older set is longer in length or wider in diameter but the same weight, then I’d assume the are either 80% or 72% tungsten. Don’t know how to tell the difference beyond that, but hope this helps.
