I happened to get a decent stream to watch some darts. Also I am currently watching week 14 from 2013. I noticed something in every match. The players throw at t20 and regardless of hit or miss they move to t19. Is this some kind of rule? Or is it them trying to reset themselves?

i noticed that too. they did not attack the t20. i thought darts strategy is to play offensive. maybe they are blocked on the target.
I was thinking they might have blocked themselves and still need that odd hit so maybe that is the reason?
Lots of them do this. Phil Taylor will almost always go to the T-19 if his first dart goes above the T-20 and he is pretty good at hitting the T-19. It's simply the second best option for score on the board and if they feel like they blocked the T-20 for some reason, they are quick to switch.
we cant always see the angle of the darts from the players view so its more likely they don't like how the darts have landed in the bed.
You have always got to think about the maximum area of your target to hit. With Phil Taylor as he likes to lay them on top of each his dart lay quite flat or tilting downward making it near to impossible to put a second dart in the treble if he is on the wire above it hence he will switch to a bigger target (by bigger I mean not blocked or obstructed by the lay of another dart) normally being the T19. I have seen so many players try to force a dart through their first 2 and end up deflecting in to the 1 or 5. It is a hard thing for people to do as we all think the T19 is just a cover but it should be used in your games as often as you need to to maximise your scoring potential. I tend to use T18 as my cover to be fair as I'm a flighter with my throw so always prefer throwing upwards at my targets than downward, but I still practice T19 as much as the other trebles and doubles as it is always needed.

Yep that is one big thing that separates Taylor from most (not all) is his t-19's - hes frigging deadly and time after time this one thing has separated as far as scoring from other players.
Personally I'm just learning to do this on a more consistent basis when Ive blocked the 20's.
No not at all RHkev my belief is that all doubles are the same size and I am confident at hitting them all but my throwing style lends me to prefer the top half of the board but as I make a point of practising the areas that are not my preferred ones twice as much as the ones that are my favourites I do have the confidence and belief in myself to hit any thing I am throwing for, it doesn't always happen but I am generally close.

If your a top level pro you really have no excuse for not been able to hit any double, which is why I think its shocking Ando is so poor on them!
I bet Taylor has probably hit more 171's than any other player too, I wonder if there is any stats of his career 180's and 171's ? Do you mean more 177's? I've seen him hit more 177's than any player I've ever watched. Two in the T-20 and one in the T-19 is almost second nature for the guy. You are forgiven my son. For your penance go drink 3 Bloody Mary's, shout out 4 "Yo mama's" then watch repeats of Russ Bray calling scores on u-tube.
for me, the t19 always has felt like my go to shot since I was a kid(was always switching). For one reason or another it just sets to my eye well. The real top players never seem to fear the switch down to t19(Taylor MVG Lewis) but I always get angry watching someone like James Wade sit so stubbornly on the t20 regardless of whether or not he's blocked and its infuriating to watch(happened several times during the World Championship and I thought Wayne Mardle was going to have a stroke watching him not willing to switch)
