I hope not but he does not seem to do as well as he once did, maybe he cant get used to the specs?
I know wearing glasses can be something that takes a little while to get used to and in my case the outer areas of the lens can cause a lot of distortion due to my astigmatism, is Part having the same issues?

Part said in an interview that he knows his game is suffering at the minute while he is trying to get used to the glasses but also added that it's something he needs to do if he wants to keep playing in the future.
He seems intelligent enough to me and he must know in himself that he will come good again and get a bit of form back.

I have pretty shoddy eyesight but have worn contact lenses for the past 18 or so years, I don't understand why players like him don't go this route, or even get laser surgery.
About this time last year I got a really bad eye infection in both eyes and had to wear glasses, and throwing darts was a nightmare as my field of vision and depth perception completely changed. I know what it must be like for him as it is a horrible thing to try to get used to!

he said he can't wear contacts as they irritate his eyes or something along those lines and joked that he couldn't afford the laser eye surgery Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

did nicholson have laser surgery? i would think that for someone like him that is used to wearing glasses not wearing them may take some getting used to as well.

I hope he still has some career left. He is very enjoyable to watch and instructive as my throw has many elements that are derived from John's. I do the same double pump as he does. He gives back to the sport with free training tips on his website and seems fairly even tempered for a world class competitor. (…unlike the Stokie) I believe he would make a fine commentator at some point but according to a recent interview he still has much more of a desire to be at the oche than in the booth.
He does still have a lot of respect from other players because they know his level of play when he is on. I think I definitely would enjoy sharing a pint with John.

Yeah he is a very likeable guy, I would like to see him playing better again, I think in a lot of the comps he was always at a disadvantage for having to travel further but I guess thats something they all have to do to some degree and probably get used to it.

As for your contacts comment, I have an astigmatism in left eye and in order to get contacts I have to get them in monocular form where one eye sees things clearly up close and the other sees things clearly farther away. When I first got them I could not read a paper without getting eye strain as one eye was doing all the work. As for throwing darts with them, forget about it.
I no longer wear contacts unless I'm on my motorcycle riding since my eyeglasses are now bifocal and that is another distraction with the distortion from the top of the lens to the bottom.
I throw darts with glasses on and if I remove them, the board is just this round fuzzy thing on a wall with no clear definition. Throwing with glasses has affected my game since I no longer play with the consistency I did when I didn't need them.

I'm a double pumper, too. (trying to minimize it.)
Among the guys still active Part's my favorite. When Mort and I get together with him, first round's on me!

I really like John Part - that being said hes done dancing - too much young talent out there now for him to be a major player anymore.
