Ted Hankey’s actual first signature darts! (spoiler: they aren’t DataDart)
I'd love to see Ted back onstage!

Darts needs characters, it's one of the reason I rarely watch it anymore (lack of characters)

When I first got into darts in 2013, looking online you had all these wonderful and mad looking characters like hankey, Fordham, stompe, whitlock etc.

Now whitlock and now wright are the only ones left

Yeah, the game is becoming more and more serious which reflects on the attitude of the players as well. But I do think there are some characters left in the game today; Whitlock and Wright (looks), Ricky Evans (antics), Mensur (throwing style, celebrations), Price (celebrations, attitude), Jose de Sousa (incredible checkout ways), but that's about it. Most of the others are there to play darts and go home. Darts needs their characters to keep things interesting. The fact that the DRA hands out fines for almost anything doesn't help as well.

Yeah there are a few still.

I think I'm just abit old school (even though did t get into darts till 2013) as. I like my players like Bristow, Jocky Fordham, George, Bob Anderson etc.

Received an email via the contact page from Ted Hankey himself.  Can't verify the identity short of violating the Count's privacy, but appears to be valid.  He says - and I'll quote:

Quote:My first signature darts were from retriever darts in slough London with signed flights

I pressed for more detail, but none forthcoming.  So will just leave as is. Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

Thank you for the info Nixer, always good to read Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images. I think Retriever darts produced the darts for DataDart, but I'm nog a 100% sure on that. I've contacted Ted's wife via eBay some time ago, and asked her about the dart brand Ted was involved in. Se replied as follows: "Hi Marc, I’m sorry, I don’t know. Sorry I’m not much help. Thanks.".

Addition: I've tried to contact Retriever darts beginning February to see if they could help with clearing things up, but I didn't get a response.
