I'm wondering who has gone from say a 26g dart to a 20g set? Or from an 18g to a 25g? Who did this directly or over a number of months/years? I'm just curious as to what prompted such a radical shift and why? Was the change worth it?

One week I play with some 18g Webster's, than I throw some 12g Bunting's, before going back to some 26g Taylor's.
So yeah I have changed weight a lot of times and will continue to do it. For me the weight is just a number. It's all about the throw and the balance of the dart.

I play soft tips with 20g darts (17.5g barrels) and steel tips with more or less 22g - 24g darts. Last week I was trying 17g steel tips. They were quite fine but I guess I better stay with something heavier. Overall not a big deal though. I kind of can play with anything. I'm not just patient atm to get used properly to this light weight.

The extra Oomph of 22+g dart is just amazing even for softip. I cannot throw 18g, my arm is too strong for this featherweight, like a truck transporting only a basket of fruit.
Even 20g is too light for my taste. I've tried throwing 18g softip with Stephen Bunting's technique, I just don't understand how he does it that well with 16g!! I can mimic his style quite accurately with 22g though. 18g flies all over!

I've changed a few times over the years between 24 and 17g.
Threw 22g for years, then went down to 17g because I fancied a change. Used them for years and have recently moved up to 19g.
It's not a big deal for me if I like how the dart feels and flies. I just need to put in some serious hours of practice to get used to any changes. Eventually they stop being your new darts and they're just your darts.

Just got a set of 21g darts this morning, usually throw a 25 or 26g.
Have had a few throws this afternoon and they feel really good. No 180s, but they come out of my hand really well and fly nicely.

I normally throw 24g but bought a set of 21g Rob Cross on Amazon for a test (easy returns if I don’t like them). Was always curious to try a lower weight so will give them a few days. I think it’s good to try new weights because they COULD improve your game and you would’ve never known otherwise.

I just switched from 24g (Distinction Capricorn) to 21g Daytona Fire DF01. The difference is huge for me, throwning is so much smoother!
Current darts: Daytona Fire DF-01 (21g)

I've thrown darts from 17g to 29g and found little difference between them for me, I'm not that good though so the results look pretty much the same

I used to throw 24g with medium stems and standard flights. Now I throw with 16g days rigged out with extra short stems and slim flights. They suit my throw far better!
