How often do you swap your match darts out for a new set? Or do you always play with the same set?
I find I get 6-8 months, then the grip level has gone below what I like. Then they are reduced to the drawer, which I always think is a shame for such good servants....lol

Well considering I have heard of some Pros using the same darts for 20+ years I guess its a personal thing more than anything else.
I can't remember who the pros name was but he had the same set from when he was about 18 and is now in his early 40's but each dart had worn differently and was almost a 2 gram difference between them, thats just crazy to use for that long though!

It may not be the grip going, it may just be that your fingers are more used to the grip.
I've been using the Carrera C3's for just over a year now - once a month in the ultrasonic cleaner to freshen them up and they are still good for me. I've still got the set I played with from 1976/7 and they are still good to throw as well.

2 gram difference that's just mental. Paul Hogan (BDO) played in our league a few years ago and his party piece was to go round the tables and pick three completely different arrows and within a couple of throws be banging 180's with them.
mc1958 I've got dry hands due to work and when the edge comes of the grip and the smoothen up they just slide right out my mits.

I just generally give the darts a good cleaning when they don't feel right in my hand. I'll take an old toothbrush and dip it in a bit of rubbing alcohol (you don't think I'd use drinking goods do you) and scrub away on the barrels. Then a quick rinse off in warm water and a toweling dry and I'm good to go.
I do have one set that had some pretty intense knurling that has gotten worn smoother over time, but I still throw them from time to time. I own no smooth barrel darts with no rings cut in them for a bit of grip. I need some different feel in the barrels and plain smooth is not for me.

In the past I had to switch back from Andersons Ph3 to Taylors Ph2 because the Andersons felt quite slippy after a few months. However, now I got back to Andersons again because they're better balanced for me. And I haven't noticed any sign of slipping from my fingers in the last few months. Accidentaly, I ordered the very same set of those Andersons a few days ago but I am not going to use them now. I ordered them as a back up set when I found them for the very good price on the total darts.

For me it all depends on the state of the barrel.
In time the point gets shorts, the barrel loses its grip, gets damaged and depending on your stems they might be a bit loose in the barrel.
Had my first darts for about 6 to 8 years
After that it looks like 2 or 3 years i needed a new set.

Been playing with my gold Andersons for about 10 months. Grip is still there but smoother than it was. Time to grab another set and break them in I think (and maybe just accidentaly slip a few other sets to try into the cart as well....)
