Dont know if we have had a poll on this before, cant find it if we have.
Do you grip the front, middle or rear of the barrel?
By grip I mean the bulk of your grip ie thumb and index finger.
I grip at the front.

I'm midway between the front and the middle with the straight-barrel darts I use most. My funky old brass and my 22g Lowe-style like to be gripped at the front.
Edit a year later (11/14): I'm now slightly back-of-center with everything.
26's so far this year: I've already lost count. :-)

I use 3 fingers for my grip with the thumb and index finger doing all the work holding it between front and middle of the barrel and my middle finger resting on the point about midway between the barrel and point itself. Three sets of my darts are straight barrels and two are slightly tapered both front and back, but my grip remains the same.

it does not hurt to have another, seems there will be more members and some people may not have seen it.

I use a three finger grip with my rude finger on the tip. I try to get my thumb just slightly forward of the balance point i.e. juuuuuuuust starting to tilt back a bit. The idea being is your not flicking the dart by accident with your thumb and you can have a very light grip without relying on your other fingers to stabilise the barrel.
It doesn't matter what length barrel I try cuz you can feel where you are griping it by the way the balance feels in your grip, on long barrels the rude finger is usually where the point meets the bullnose and on shorter barrels the rude finger is more towards the point
