Changing horses (darts)
Is it legal to change darts in the middle of a match? Just curious, but what if you start a match with one set, nothing is hitting and you decide to go with another set.

Good question - Don't believe there's a problem - gonna let the UK boyz answer this one.

I think you can change you flights and stems but not your darts, remember something during a barney's game, I stand to be corrected but think I am right (Wife says I think I am right all the time )

Interesting question....

I have checked the official playing rules for both BDO and PDC for standard play and tournament matches. Both allow time for a player to repair or replace damaged (or lost BDO?) darts during a game.

Neither rule book states that it is not permissible to change darts or accessories during a game. So I would suggest that a player has the right to suit him or herself in this regards. However in the spirit of the game this should be done immediately or as soon as practically possible so as not to create any gamesmanship by causing delays etc IMHO.

Cheers,

My father Merlin, once told me that "You should end up pointing to what you were aiming at when you've released the Dart."

well just seems silly if some player wanted to change his darts to a completely different set half way through a match.

true, i suppose. you would think if they play better with the other set that they would play with that set from the start.

I don't know if it's within the rules or not in my local league.

If I was playing against someone who decided to change then I wouldn't have too much of a problem if the new set was already set up and didn't need every stem and flight to go in.

It also depends on the format. If it was a local league 1 leg format then it could be annoying but over a 5-10+ format then theres always a time to change - providing the 2nd set is set up and no time difference in changing a flight/stem

I'd also be thinking - there not happy with there game because there changing everything. So as long as time was ok it wouldn't bother me too much I'd be more interested in my own game
