want to make a purchase but cant decide what weight to go with. I can throw anything well. 22g seems to be my preference. But Sometimes I like a Heavier dart..
How do you go about finding what weight you want?

Shape and length of the dart can also affect how it feels too. A front weighted bomb shape dart of 21g may feel as heavy as a straight barrel 23g.
There is so many variables involved that its never a straight forward answer but generally if you have a slow throw try 24g+ and if you have a fast hard throw try 24g and less. But I know people who throw with 28g who have a fast hard throw so in the long run its what you feel most comfortable with.
A test that people often say is to throw your dart at the treble or bull, if it lands high then you need a heavier weight and if it lands low you need a lighter weight.
Personally I think it all comes down to what feels right when you throw it, if it feels comfortable and right then stick with that weight.

The easiest method is to go to a store where you can test throw the darts first.
If you dont have a local shop, then ask your dart friends for a throw of their darts.
Also, one of the online stores that we are friends with here runs a try before you buy option that would be worth a look also.
Other than that, you could always see what is available for swaps on here.

go to puredarts.co.uk buy some hi-tec darts of different weights, shapes and grips. after a year and many many darts i've found that grip pattern affects my game more , a straight barrel with a shallow ring grip or smooth grip travels to the board straighter for me. still fine tuning the weights but between 16-19g seems to me for me. that said i'll change my mind again lol

Gripo I was under the impression that you throw at the bull and if it goes low then a heavier dart is needed and vice versa. Do believe I seen it on the old forum and have been told this at the club.
I may be wrong though but I seriously doubt it.
Globetrotters anyone lol

Humm maybe there is something with that high low senerio.
I generally use a light dart. 22g is my heaviest. And i generally hit low when i miss.
Which is why i brought this up. I no longer have a shop close by. And im going to order feom pure darts. But ibwant the Harrow Wolframs and MVG but i cant decide which wieght to get.
