I will start us off. 10 years ago I was visiting my brother and his family. At the time my nephews were around 2 years old. Wel on this particular day I was very gassy, my nephews called passing gas pooping. So after a day of pull my finger and giggling I had to go. On my way out my nephews yell out good bye uncle poop. Now most of the family and friends on that side of the family call me by that name. Only a few friends and fewer relatives call me by my given name. So the name has stuck and I figure if I can't beat it use it as a forum name.
So how'd your forum name come about?

I have used several - RN Larry was one but I like Saber for some medieval reason

I ride motorcycles, have been since age 18 and am now pushing 61 real hard. Every motorcycle rider worth their salt has a "road name", and being as how I'm from S. E. Louisiana and am a Cajun, I became Gumbo. My wife, who has been to several rallies with me is named File', pronounced Fee-Lay, for the spice that accompanies gumbo and adds a distinct flavor to it.
All that, and the fact I do cook a mean pot of Gumbo for just about anyone who asks when I have the time and ingredients, and there you have the origin of my name.
I had a few forum names on various forums but have stuck to Getagrip now, cant remember why a picked it, I think it was simply because I was experimenting with my grip at the time and also because I need to get a grip!
Some really cool origins for names. Catalaya, at first I thought your name was for the flower but the flower is spelled Cattleya. Still a beautiful name for a girl.

And here I was thinking you had a jones for Mary Jane and the munchies that usually follow the casual intake of a bit of cannabis. How'd I know that?? I loved Milky Way bars back in the day.Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.Guests cannot see images in the messages. Many years ago while playing a car racing game on super nintendo with a mate I was in the final race of the game and if I won I would have opened up new track or cars or something like that (very important race (to me at the time)). I was siting in fourth place down a long straight with a chicane ahead and the finish line just past a corner, I had no chance at winning this race as I was a long way back in fourth and would have had to start the event all over again.
Desperate as a pimply buck toothed adolescent I put the peddle to the metal and came up on the chicane as fast as the car would let me and slammed into the third place car knocking him of the track (mate saying "He's dirty") that launched me into the second place car knocking him in to the wall (mate starting to stand and saying "he's Giuseppe") which in turn hole shoted me down a short straight to the final corner just in time to slam the leader into the bricks and bouncing my car out of control over the finish line for the win (mate jumping up and down yelling "He's Dirty Giuseppe"). When the dust had settled I asked him where the hell did you get that name from (I thought he was having a stab at my Italian heritage) and he told me that there was a character from the Paul Hogan show called Dirty Giuseppe who was a real nasty bugger even to his mum and the intro for him (in deep husky voice) was "He's dirty, He's Giuseppe, He's Dirty Giuseppeeeee!!!". Needless to say that from that day on he still call's me Giuseppe and Dirty G has been my gaming name ever since, I also have It on a lot of custom made fishing rods that I have made. God damn that took some typing as I tried to capture the essence of the moment but I guess it was one of those you just had to be there things. All the best Dirty Giuseppeeeeeeee!!!! |
