Hi all,
am new to dart game here, been playing for 2 months and mostly into the Cricket game.
I have a question to ask, how do i make myself hit 19 and 17 which are at the lower part of the dart board?
I have no problem hitting 20, bullseye, etc though.
So how do I improve my game by hitting 19 and 17? Do I use the same strength and change my release points or I adjust my aim lower so the dart fly and dip down?
Thanks.
Dan

Flight School...it's free and will help you have a consistent stoke no matter where you are aiming. Practice is the way-no short cuts. And welcome to the Nutz and the forum. You will find the people here will help you in any way they can....extremely knowledgeable and very helpful.

Adjust your aim and throw with the same strength.

Hello Dan and welcome aboard.
I know your playing mostly Cricket but its wise to practice all round the board really. Your action should be the same but you will make small adjustments with your throw position to line up with the target.

Always keep your aim where you are targeting.
Practice, practice, practice the targets you want to hit.

Keep your throwing motion the same as always, just bend slightly/very slightly forward at your torso.

Agree with everything above. For most players, a slight bend forward at the waist will allow you to keep your arm position relative to your torso the same. If you maintain the same stance and then just lower your arm to aim down at the 17/19, you will close up your arm and have a tendency to push out with your elbow earlier or rotate your elbow which typically results in a left to right scatter.
Practice, practice, practice......
And, by the way, if 20's and the Bull are no problem for you, you are light years ahead of many of us!

Hi all,
Thanks for all the tips! So slight bend at the waist while maintaining a parallel elbow to the ground will do the trick! Never occur to me!
It's a great tip!
Thanks!!

I have to bend over a little for the low shots to keep my ribcage from getting in the way of my arm.

Look where you're throwing and throw where you're looking. Sounds simple but if I focus on where I want my dart to go then it does (or there abouts). My throwing set up then adjusts almost subconsciously.

I know that George (flight School) encourages this ("what your arm does is no business of yours", ha ha) but I think you really have to be introspective and aware of what your arm is doing, but only at first. At some point, I finally did stop worrying about my arm and turned my focus towards my target. And I have improved as a result. I have played way way more games of cricket than 01. Most cricket numbers are at the bottom. I'm cool with the bull, but I actually find the 20 to be the hardest number on the board. I hope to be good at the whole board some day. I guess you get best at what you practice most. Practice the whole board and keep it fun. As long as you stay stoked you will be able to throw the millions of darts necessary to become really good. Have fun and good luck.

Someone needs to invent a game where the goal is to score the least amount of points. I'd be good at that because I can just kill the 1s and 5s.
