Advice requested on a few (cheaper) sets of darts
Hey guys,

So we've had a dartboard for a few weeks. We've had some no name darts from Amazon, and they left a bit to be desired. They have practically smooth barrels with three rings cut on the front and one in the back, and they are very slick. We wore through the flights that came with them and managed to bend one of the aluminum shafts. That started my search for new gear.

The easy part was picking out a pair of flight sets in the various sets and nylon replacement shafts in all the lengths.

I was thinking of getting like 3 sets of darts (if for nothing else, but to get the free shipping promo). I was thinking of getting a couple of different shapes and weights with better grip. I'm finding myself as a middle to front gripper, but that's the only spot with grips on these darts. Plus they are very front loaded.

Anyone recommend a few sets that run under $20 that would give us a variety of shapes and weights? I'd prefer not to spend a fortune on them as they would be beginner darts for us to figure out what we like and to have loaners when others come over. The ones that I've come across on A-Z have been the Unicorn Core and Bullets, the Target Lewis and Taylors, and some of the other brands on there that I'm not familiar with but fall in a similar price range.

Thanks all!

I assume Steeltip since nothing was mentioned.

The McCoys have a very wide range of styles to choose from, and appear to be good quality according to reports from members here.

As for soft tip, McCoys have a huge range under the McCoy and Marksman brands: https://www.puredarts.co.uk/mccoy-soft-tip-darts/

And if you want 95% Tungstens real cheap: https://www.dartscorner.co.uk/index.php?cPath=282_1318

McCoy range is good quality for sure, same for Darts Clearance. Red Dragon have some cheaper sets too:

All prices are in GBP for me though so you'll have to do a conversion to USD and I don't know how much shipping will be from a UK store to the USA but sometimes bargains can be had from UK stores. Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

Designa do some nice darts on the cheaper end of the spectrum.

They also do soft tip if that's your thing.

I also recommend the Nodor darts.

You can find them in various brandings: dartscorner sell them under their own brand name "Designa", pure darts sell them as "Hi-tec", in A180 they are sold as Nodor.

Quality darts, very well made, and extremely value for money. Can't go wrong with them.
Ignore the "how you are doing it" in favor of "where you are sending it."

Huh, I never knew that the Nodor darts were rebranded like that. Is there any reason to it ?

I didn't either till i stumbled on their website www.nodor-darts.com and saw their catalog. With a quick search you 'll see that almost all their designs exist in all big online retailers.

Maybe they are not interested in being in the front line of the "brand name" game. Considering that Nodor/ Winmau / Red Dragon are basically the same group of companies, maybe they are leaving the branded darts to Winmau and Red Dragon.

I don't know.

That's strange considering they still sell Nordor branded dartboards.

Well, they were the inventors of the modern sisal board, so i kinda can understand that.

I think the Supamatch 2 is a rebranded Winmau Blade 4. Nodor owns Winmau so it's not really a surprise Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

They would be steel tip, I left that out.

I'm honestly surprised that I can get some of the 90% darts and they be in my price range. I figured after looking through A-Z, I'd be settling for a few sets of brass darts and calling it a day. It never occurred to me to have them shipped across the pond to me.

I think I'll grab a set of bombers, straight barrels, and then maybe a scalloped or rear heavy design. That should give us enough options to figure it out. Thanks for the suggestions guys!
