What do you look for when buying darts?
It may seem fickle but its always the look of the darts that attracts me first, I like unusual designs and good looking darts.

Then I think next is the price, I see many darts that fulfil my first requirement but dont always have a nice price. There is a lot of darts on my wish list if the price was easier on my pocket, but I may treat myself sometime to a few Guests cannot see images in the messages. Thirdly is practicality or suitability. This is probably the most important thing I guess, and maybe it should be the only thing I buy darts for. Is the dart practical/suitable for my grip and my throw?

I maybe have only bought less than 20 sets based on my third reason. But as I like to collect darts its not an issue for me as such and I have only bought so many sets that I have intended to play with on a regular basis and ones where I wanted to experiment with differing shapes and weights.

My least important reason is tungsten content, I dont really care if its 80% or 97% as the only reason I would care is if I wanted a thinner dart, but its not a requirement for me.

Whats your reasons?

I'm currently on finding a dart that feels right to throw. The looks of the dart I try not to think about but it does feel better to throw a dart that you like the look of than a dart that is plain ugly.

So now I try to find a dart that has the grip area at the back of the dart. Because sometimes when my darts dosnt fly where they should I change where I grip the dart. By using a dart with the grip only where its needed should minimize my grip problems.

the Shape of the dart is 1st for me. then comes the specs Weight and length mostly.
Price really doesn't bother me until it hits the $100+ mark. then I start to ponder it.

Shape- grip - no brass darts! - weight -

Nickel content comes first for me, 'cause I'm allergic to it. Then shape, grip, weight, density. Most of my darts are 30+ years old.
26's so far this year: I've already lost count. :-)

I started playing with a set similar to the Peter Manley front loaded short barrel dart many years ago. I currently own 5 sets of darts with 4 of them with straight barrels no more than 2 inches long and the newest set being slightly thicker in the center with equal taper to both ends.

I look for darts that are relatively thin and have a nice grip surface by either being ringed or knurled---never owned a slick barrel dart. I like my darts to not be too long when set up the way I like them. Most of my darts are at least 90% tungsten, though not a requirement, it just worked out that way.

Price is not a major issue since most of my darts have been bought for $50 U.S. or less with the exception of the Eric Bristow Power Points I got many years ago when I made up my mind I loved this game. However, I will not pay what some of these companies want for their product. I remember when Black Widows were first introduced to the market, they were selling for $180 a set and that is ridiculous in my opinion. That's a lot of beer money. A man's gotta have his priorities.

i wish i knew then i could just look and buy them or have them custom made. but i change my mind every 5 minutes. tungsten content does not bother me in the least though the way i see it is its just another tool in getting the dimensions and weight you want

I look for the grip first (the more the better) then weight. Can't get on with slim or stubby stafts. The ideal design would be similar to Harrows Graflite.

some varying reasons then, I guess like myself and Del and a few others some things catch our eye if they are of a collectable nature, but its interesting that we all have specific reasons Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

I look for a straight barrel, nice feeling grip and weight. Then a test throw to see if they feel right. Last of all is the price.
