Ive posted a wee pic of my grip and my top dart (Unicorn Gripper 24g). With this dart I hit a LOT of 140s but only a 180 on a near perfect group (two a week on avg. this year so far in practice). Fat dart throwers (not your bellies) will no doubt have the same issue in that the third throw and sometimes second will rattle the first and block the treble and/or go anywhere.
With straight darts like my Harrows Supergrip I could put 6 in the treble if I could only get the same accuracy and flight quality. So what do I do ? I spend a fortune on darts which I end up trading etc cos you cant try before you buy right ? I came to the conclusion that I need a fat bit in the middle to 'push against' as such which tapers in at the front to allow grouping but as you know it doesn't always work like that - they all behave different.
So my question is this ....... who has had the same issue and do you have any tips (darts OR technique) ? Taylor does it with fat darts but I aint Taylor. Last 3 games I played (first to ten legs against local players) I have gone 68/79/74 averages so I'm not moaning but the right arrow I'm hoping can push this up 5-10pts as the way I see it its the ones that go awry off the barrel that's the issue. Alternative may be the right straight dart and just persevere so tips from those who turned to straight barrels from fat and maybe changed the throw etc is welcome also.
In short I'm sick of spending £££ but wanna improve my game. Darts I own are listed below so You have an idea.
Unicorn Gripper 2 (24g - can be deadly with these)
Snakebite (fat 26g - good with these)
Voks Jagger (23g - cool but inconsistent)
Bulls Radar (24g - nice but weight too far forward)
Target Deller (23g - struggle with them)
Carerra C3 & C9 (24 & 25g - VERY close to the grippers)
Winmau Sniper (23g - like em but inconsistent)
Winmau Series 9.0 (24g same as Hi Impact 2 - good)
Harrows Supergrip (straight 23g - good not great)
Harrows Atomic (tapered 25g - again good not great)
Anyway - I know we're all different and we all favour different darts but Im genuinely interested if someone out there found that extra performance somewhere .....
Cheers folks
