THE teams have been confirmed for the 2016 Betway World Cup of Darts, with Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis set to represent England in Frankfurt next month as they bid to defend their title.

The £250,000 tournament will see 32 nations competing in a Pairs format from June 2-5 at the Eissporthalle in Frankfurt, Germany, with matches throughout the Sky Sports-televised event featuring a mixture of Singles and Doubles games.

Reigning champions England will be represented by Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis for a fifth successive year as they bid to add to their three previous triumphs in the tournament, with sponsors Betway making them 2/1 to lift the title.

2015 finalists Scotland will be represented by World Champion Gary Anderson and reigning World Grand Prix champion Robert Thornton as the second seeds, while the triumphant 2014 Netherlands team of Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld will team up once again in Frankfurt as the number three seeds and pre-tournament 6/4 favourites with Betway.

Fourth seeds Northern Ireland will be represented by Brendan Dolan and debutant Daryl Gurney, while recent Players Championship winner Gerwyn Price will compete for Wales for the first time alongside Mark Webster as the number five seeds.

Australia's Kyle Anderson makes his World Cup debut alongside Simon Whitlock for the sixth seeds, while 2013 finalists Belgium - represented once again by brothers Kim and Ronny Huybrechts - are seeded seventh and Austria, whose team comprises Mensur Suljovic and Rowby-John Rodriguez, complete the eight seeds.

The unseeded nations include hosts Germany, who will face Australia in the first round as teenager Max Hopp and Jyhan Artut team up in front of their home crowd, while 2015 quarter-finalists Hong Kong - represented again by Ting Chi Royden Lam & Scott Mackenzie - meet Ireland's William O'Connor and Mick McGowan.

Spain's Cristo Reyes and Antonio Alcinas will kick off the tournament against England, while New Zealand's Warren Parry and debutant Cody Harris face Scotland and Russia's Aleksandr Oreshkin and Boris Koltsov take on the Netherlands.

Japan's Keita Ono and Haruki Muramatsu open up against Northern Ireland, while Finland's Kim Viljanen and Marko Kantele meet Wales, Poland's Krzysztof Ratajski and Mariusz Paul play Belgium and Italian duo Daniele Petri and Michel Furlanis take on Austria.

2016 World Championship qualifier Alex Tagarao will now compete for the Philippines as a replacement for Lourence Ilagan, who has withdrawn through illness. Tagarao finished in third place in the Philippines' qualifier and now lines up alongside Gilbert Ulang for their first round tie with American pair Darin Young and Larry Butler.

Greece's debut in the World Cup will see John Michael and Ioannis Selachoglou face experienced Canadian duo John Part and Ken MacNeil, while South Africa's Devon Petersen and Graham Filby will take on Singapore's Paul Lim - who has over three decades of top-level experience - and Harith Lim.

Norway's Robert Wagner and debutant Cor Dekker will face Gibraltar's Dyson Parody and Manuel Vilerio in round one, with Denmark's Per Laursen and Daniel Jensen playing Scandinavian rivals Sweden, who are represented by Magnus Caris and Daniel Larsson.

Thailand's Thanawat Gaweenuntawong and Attapol Eupakaree take on Hungary's Nandor Bezzeg and Patrik Kovaks, and the Czech Republic's Michal Kocik and Pavel Drtil play China's Yuanjun Liu and Wenge Xie.

Tickets for the Betway World Cup of Darts are available through www.pdc-europe.tv.

The schedule of play will be announced in due course.

Really pleased for Kyle Anderson getting, deservedly, to represent Australia

Surprising that Peter Wright didn't get the nod for Scotland?

I´m really looking forward to Webster/Price. They could be a pair to watch out for.

Why isn´t Peter Wright playing for Scotland?!

If you want to know why Wright "made himself unavailable" I suggest you have a look at both his and his wifes twitter accounts over the last couple of weeks. As with Klaasen I would guess that the PDC made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

Bad draw for Spain, i see Reyes and Alcinas as some of the best non seeds. But England will be unbeatable for the spanish guys. Thats bad luck.

I like the Welsh team :-)

First Jelle is effectively ruled out due to previous controversy. Now Wright has been due to recent controversy.

Haven't seen or know much of the latter and not really sure what's going on, but surely Gerwyn Price shouldn't be playing either if they're banning players for saying controversial things (heard he made a few controversial comments about the migrant crisis a few months back)? Or if we're going off past legal mistakes, Phil Taylor should not be present either?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of all the lineups. I'm especially happy for Gerwyn Price and am looking forward to how he and Webster do, and I understand the case with Jelle what with Michael being world #1 and the personal aspect of it. But it seems me that now it's one rule for one and another rule for another. A body like the PDC can't have that IMO.

Yeah seems like the PDC is doing double standards for the sack of money and no trouble. But they won´t get any damage from it.

This sounds also strange to me "Jelle Klaasen discounted himself for selection."

Ah, I see the US is sending the same duo again this year with Butler and Young representing the States.    At most, I see a two math and done scenario.

Good to see Anderson and Whitlock throwing for the Aussies.     When Nicholson was there last year I could see his heart didn't look into it and I bet Simon wished the big guy was his partner then.    Let's see how far they go this year.

Klaasen making himself unavailable really didn't surprise me as I said he'd likely do that a couple days ago in the shout box.  No was the Dutch would not want MVG to represent them and he and Barney have a good rapport when playing.

Surprised about Wright.   Not sure what's going on since I don't follow anything on those social media accounts and don't even know how to access them to be honest.    I just believe Ando would probably rather Wright than Thornton as a partner.  When things go bad for Thornton, he lets the world know how badly he's throwing with all the faces he makes at stray darts.

Paul Nicholson is on the Let's Talk Darts podcast and towards the start of the year he talked a bit about injuries and his ongoing fight to get back to winning ways.  If you haven't listened to it you should check it out.

I'm thrilled for Kyle Anderson.  I follow him on social media and he comes across as a really nice guy (as does Nicholson to be fair).  This year Anderson (Kando?) has based himself in Europe to really give it a go and he's had a few decent results.

Darin Young and Larry Butler again for the United States? Why don't they mix it up and throw Leonard Gates in there over Darin. I am disappointed I wanted to see Solider Gates play some steel tip. Happy for Kyle Anderson he deserved to be on team Australia. I was surprised Scotland isn't having Peter Wright represent but Snake Bite withdrew for some reason. The World Cup is one of my favorite dart tournaments of the year I love the drama and passion. World Championship and the World Cup are my favorite 2 tournaments of the year.

I know this is a PDC tournament, but what's the story with BDO players representing their country here?
