Doubles Practice Game
This is a little "game" I started playing to get a bit of practice throwing at the key doubles.

Start by throwing at double 16 and keep throwing until you hit it. Once you hit it, you move onto double 8, but only allow yourself a certain number of darts (e.g., 6) to hit it. If you hit it within these 6 darts, give yourself 6 darts at double 4, then double 2, then double 1. If you fail to hit the target double within the 6 darts then move back up a level, if you fail to re-hit that within 6 then move back up a level again, all the way back up to double 16 again if you keep missing. You can give yourself only 3 darts, or 9 or more, depending on your skill level.

Edit: Forgot to add - if I hit the double with my first or second dart then I use the remaining dart(s) as "free" darts at the next double. So if I hit the double 16 with my second dart then I actually get 7 shots at double 8, for example.

After doing this for a while I found I was a lot more comfortable throwing for these doubles in 501 games. Most notably I used to be "afraid" of hitting the big single so I would err on the side of caution and throw a lot of darts outside the double. As the game is built around moving onto the next double as a positive thing, it helped me to stop worrying about hitting the big single and getting into that situation in a game, so instead I can just concentrate on hitting the double.

Dbl18 was my worst. The more I practiced it the easier it became. Your routine makes good sense getting comfortable with 16 down the line
