3 Darts in Hand throwing for a double, first dart hits the double, you cross the ocky to retreave the dart, It falls out.
Rules state turn over, (OK)
Do you think at any Level, do you give a Player a Chance with the remaining 2 Darts?
I know with no scorer I have crosed the ocky to look if it is in a Segment, so we Play on.
Friendly games to comp to PDC.
Has it happened?

I think it's okay to cross the oche without the turn being over? I remember Justin pipe doing it to look at a dart in the World Championships a few months ago.
I'd have no issue with them shooting the other 2 darts.

Strict letter of the law the shot is over as you crossed the oche - if it was a friendly game down the pub with your mates though then I would just carry on and allow the player to throw the other 2 darts

Thanks for taking the time to check and clarify mate, where did you look to find the ruling?

Less so now with the modern boards but it used to be common for players to take a step forward to see which bed a dart was in, although checking with the referee first. Bristow used to do it as often as Taylor 'drops' his dart now.

Well seeing the rules state that you can throw your 2 darts I have absolutely no problems with it, in a friendly game I would even count the double if the dart was in but fell out in a weird way.

Correct me if I'm wrong (as I may be!), If the winning double is hit and the score keeper says your score and then the dart falls out... it still counts. The referee said that is the end of the game.

Officially the dart needs to also be retrieved from the board after game shot is called

Wow, a little sandpaper there would go a long way. Good lesson for us, I guess. If one has a light dart and/or a gentle throw, good to keep some on hand.

From my understanding, when a ref or scorer calls game shot, it is over and done. Doesn't matter if it falls out, or you throw your other darts like Taylor does after a frustrating win.
