When to know to change darts
Here's the scenario:

I've been throwing with my Target Adrian Lewis v2 18g soft tips for around a year and carrying a decent average. I had been steadily getting better throughout the year, showing improvement season after season. After this last league session got over I thought "what the heck" and got a new set of Monster Conqueror 18g soft tips. Beautiful darts that i thought could be the set I throw all the time, much like my Target Adrian Lewis. I've been playing with these darts for about a month (3 weeks worth of league so far) and my cricket average has dropped over 0.5 points.

So the question: when's it the correct time to switch back to the darts you're most comfortable with? Is 3 weeks about the right time, or should you give it more time? I'm afraid I hit a slump that coincided with the addition of new darts, but its hard to say.  I really love the way the new darts look, but they don't feel great and i'm wrecking my average.  Guests cannot see images in the messages. I would say change when you feel the need of it. If you don´t feel confident with the darts right now switch back. Maybe it´s should a thing in your mind that you think you could throw better with the Lewis and so don´t do so well with the Monster.

If you think you will throw better with the Lewis' just change back. You can always try the Monsters again sometime.

I try and stick to a new set for several weeks. Sometimes I know they are garbage to my style of throwing nearly right away. But I struggle with them because I spent the money on them. My game suffers but try to get on with them.

right now I'm using 3 different sets when practicing, my Titan 1 customs, Carrera C4, and Carrera CX4 but stick to my custom set for league Guests cannot see images in the messages. -When the grip fades on your current darts.
-If you decide to switch grips.
-If you change where you hold your dart.
-If you decide to go up in weight/down in weight.
-A new dart that you like the looks of comes out.
-A new Phil Taylor dart comes out.

Are you kidding me? This is DartsNutz, surely the standard should be "when a new Peter Wright dart comes out". Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

Since you are feeling uncomfortable with your new darts you should switch back to your old ones now.  IMO you should have a longer than normal practice session with your old darts just to get used to them again.  Then stick with your old darts all the way through current season.  When season ends is the time to test out any new darts and see what's working best for you.

Switch when you feel like your current set isn't working/feeling right

0.5 drop off in cricket is quite a bit! I'd be mad as hell if my avg tanked from a 3.0 to a 2.5mpr. I know it's only been 3 weeks but it's time to abort. Pull the plug like you're starting a mower.
