Peter Wright PL15 Blue 22g darts review

Video link = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkxXQJHK_q4

I had the original version of the PL15 darts and did a review here: https://www.dartsnutz.net/forum/showthre...?tid=13002&highlight=wright  I got them when they first came out at the beginning of February but at the time I had them I never got chance to review them fully as my Dad died and when I finally posted the review a new version of the PL15 darts were available in a longer sleeker barrel.  This is the version I am reviewing here and these are also the blue ti version of that.

They are 90% tungsten and are available in 22, 24 and 26 grams and they retail for £36.90, there is also a natural tungsten version which is cheaper at £26.90.  You can find more info on the Red Dragon site here: PL15 Blue 22g

CONTENTS AND PACKAGING:

The darts come in the usual Red Dragon plastic bag with a XS wallet which is one of the better type of wallets for storing your darts supplied with a set, its useful because it has a fair amount of storage space and works well.  Included with the darts is a point protector, 2 sets of medium alloy stems, 2 sets of standard Snakebite flights and the Red Dragon guarantee card also the darts are fitted with some nice rainbow coloured points:

The darts are still the same style of grip as the first version that came out but this version is longer and slimmer so the tapered section with the chunky rings and grooves at the front is much longer too and gets quite thin near the nose.  Grip level is much the same as before with a medium level on the wide bands at the front and a higher level on the shark style grip.  The rainbow points don't feel like they are doing much for my finger grip but they do stick in the board rather well Guests cannot see images in the messages. MY GRIP WITH THESE DARTS:

I just naturally gripped these at the front but I think they felt better throw just around the beginning of the razor grip, my only issue gripping on the front like below was the thinness of the barrel there:

Darts landed mostly quite close to my usual upward angle just a little flatter perhaps:

CONCLUSION:

I was kind of expecting this version of the darts not to suit me as much as the other shorter version did and I was pretty much right on the whole.  I think the other version although not so great with a typical front grip for me was much better around the middle and the rear and generally felt better balanced because of its shortness.

However, this longer sleeker version worked better than I imagined too.  Strangely these probably worked a little better with my normal front grip than the shorter version did, but I felt the shorter version worked well around the middle and very well near the rear and I got quite comfortable with them from just past the centre the more I played with them.  But once again this version does feel like it will suit a centre and rear gripper very well.

I threw these ok from around the centre but quite terrible from the rear as they are just a bit too long for me with that grip and obviously why the shorter version worked better but should be fine for normal rear grippers. Balance felt best just around and just slightly past the centre.

I think this version is a better looking barrel though and the blue colour adds a little more to the look and style, a very nice sleek shape Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

Summary Ratings:

Looks: 9 (very nice sleek looks)
Grip: 8 (on a 1 to 10 Scale, 10 been severe grip)
Weight match: 6.5 (ok)
Quality: 8 (seems fine)
Value: 7.5 (good package but a fair bit dearer than the natural version)
Suitability for me: 6.5 (fly very nice from rear and was good on doubles with then)

Very nice looking darts. As a front gripper I do not think they would suit me.
I like those rainbow points.

Excellent review as always. +1 Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

Makes me want to get the soft tip version!

All the tooling marks look like a chaotic splash of micro-micro-grips! I like!  Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

Did say in your Anderson PLC review that I didn't care for these? Well I was wrong lol, these look great!
Wanted to try these (before your review only in natural tungsten lol!) for a while now, the grip on the back looks to be perfect for my semi-reargrip and I like darts that have a taper on the front.

Another nice review!  I tried the shorter version and they didn't work out for me, but maybe these would since I like longer barrels.  I'll keep an eye out for these.

Absolutely gorgeous darts and awesome pics. Like you I don't think they would suit my front grip, but I still enjoy looking at them and wishing lol remind me a bit of the style of the harrows wolframs, which also didn't suit my front grip!!

Just got the 22g silver version,if im right they are the same spec as the blues, correct me if im wrong.I got mine delivered today, and taken to them already,im just a recreantional player, but after trying them out their giving me a nice loppy flight from the standard set up and my middle barrel pen grip.Love the feel of the grip too,the middle section is grippy without feeling harsh on the fingers, the front finger sits nicely on the gentle grip on the front. After trying a few other darts,i think of finally found a dart im sticking with.Great Darts Guests cannot see images in the messages.
