L-STYLE and LARO Systems Explained / JUST ADDED: How to get rid of the RATTLE!
Darren's Review https://www.dartsnutz.net/forum/showthre...?tid=33442

I posted this in another thread, but since more threads are coming up about the confusion of L-Style and LARO products, I thought I'd start another thread separately.

Hope this helps. Of course, I too may be confused! Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images. Guys, please feel free to point out any mistakes.

Think of the system as having TWO separate shafts - L-STYLE, and L-STYLE LARO or just L LARO (NO 'Style' to avoid confusion).

L-STYLE Shafts

L-STYLE (Locked) - https://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/3...SY355_.jpg

L-STYLE - Silent (Spinning) - https://www.dartproshop.com/images/shaft...pin_01.jpg

L-STYLE - Carbon (Locked) - https://www.edarts.net/shafts/l_shaft_ca...ock260.jpg

L-STYLE - Silent Carbon (Spinning) - https://shop.r10s.jp/count-up/cabinet/sh...6112_1.jpg

You can tell the L-STYLE by the LARGE pointy bits that are just below where the flight sits.

Supposed to use Shell Lock and conical Shell Lock Caps or Champagne caps, OR Champagne Flights with the flat-top Champagne Caps. However, I find that flights of 75 micron ridged/textured flights / 100 microns fits snugly without any caps, but you run the risk of robin hoods. Flights do not fly off routinely.

L-Style Shafts CAN be used with ...

CHAMPAGNE CAPS

OR

SHELL LOCK with NORMAL Folding flights

https://www.edarts.net/access/shell_s4.jpg
https://www.edarts.net/access/shells_300.jpg

Note: Champagne caps are flat on the top, while Shell Lock Caps are conical, with 90 degree grooves for the normal folded flight fins to fit into. They are DIFFERENT sizes and shape holes and caps.

ADDED NOTE: DNF Member Gadasoft mentioned that L-Style Silent works 'perfectly' with the Winmau WHIZLOCK punch and cap system - https://www.dartsnutz.net/showthread.php?tid=14384

Whizlock - https://www.a180.co.uk/shopimages/produc...20ZOOM.jpg

+ Added Note: The black Whizlock caps are said to be paint only, and will get scratched up. You could go for the Silver ones if you don't want that to happen.

Now ...

L-LARO Shafts

Note: The L LARO shafts only have a VERY SMALL protruding bit below where the flight sits.

L LARO (Locked) - https://www.horizondarts.com/library/Shafts/laro1.jpg

L LARO Silent (Spinning) - https://www.edarts.net/shafts/silent_lengths.jpg

L LARO Carbon (Locked) - https://vegadarts.com/images/NewImages/l...on_360.jpg

L LARO Carbon Silent (Spinning) - There is NO L LARO Carbon Spinning shaft at the moment.

BOTH the LARO shafts, WITH the plastic RINGS on them can be used with the MOULDED Flight-L with the slot PUNCHED in the flight at the factory - https://vegadarts.com/images/product_ima...Opaque.jpg

LARO shafts can also be used with:

1) Normal folding flights with the Shell Lock punched in them, and the conical Shell lock caps

OR

2) NORMAL folding flights WITH or WITHOUT any rings or caps. I think I read somewhere that the TARGET Slot Punch works for this, but please check around first.

For LARO shafts, I THINK I read somewhere that they DO NOT go well with Champagne Flights/Caps, but I'm not certain.

HOW TO GET RID OF THE RATTLE with any of the SILENT Stems

Have seen several times members have asked about getting rid of the rattle, and I've described it, but here's a simple graphic which is self-explanatory. Hope it helps.  Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

In the other thread, Regulotari posted up very useful information of dimensions and weight. MOST L-Style and LARO shafts come in standard and slim.

(06-22-2015, 09:30 AM)Regulatori Wrote: Yeah, L Style can be confusing. Go on L Style's website and seeing the "Laro Silent" was a bit surprising...I had never heard of them. I bought the L-Shaft silent (white package) when they first came out and they had the squared off rear tangs for caps.

I always wondered if Laro was a separate company that L Style bought or something different. Some of the Laro products are especially confusing...like the standard Laro carbon fiber stems. When I used to buy them, they were made my Joker Driver. Some stores even say, "May have L Style or Joker Driver printed on the side."

Great thread. I like L-style. Just got my first L-style Carbon & Flight set up, just got to get the Barrels ready for 'em now. Been using Laro's for last few years.

I've been using L-Style shafts and flights (Champagne) for over a year now. Excellent products. I use the slim medium shafts. Never had a shaft go bad yet, And I've only gone through 2 sets of flights. Consider this as a positive testimonial. Guests cannot see images in the messages. One thing about the 'Silent' spinning shafts - if or when they loosen a bit, apparently, you could pop off the top using a jeweller's screw driver in the small slot below the spinning portion, dab the slightest bit of silicon grease and that should dampen things a bit. I've not tried it yet though, but the theory tells me it should work. ***SMILE*** - since the emoticons don't work right now.

I need a Volunteer,,,,,,,

I throw in a weekly soft tip league and every week someone is snapping a shaft off leaving the threads inside the dart,,,,,These are expensive Fit Gear shafts and cheap Target Pro Grip style,,,,, from what I see they all have a common denominator,,,,they all are the type that have the air bubble you can see,,,,,I went through to buying sprees with Fit gear and finally swore them off due to high breakage,,,,,The only way I will go back to Fit Flight is buy using carbon or titanium stems,,,,,,,

In a recent trade I acquired an L-style Shell punch and some L-style Shell caps,,,,and a few sets of already punched flights from tiny to standard size,,,And I decided to try them on every stem I had ,,, For the most part It works pretty darn good ,, using them with the cheap nylon stems and thin 75 micron flights,,,The only downside to nylon stems is it is hit or miss about the fit,,,,,,

The biggest Con against this system is the cost of the L-Style Punch for which I would of never paid that much for,,,,

So I went on a search for the cheapest carbon shaft I could find and I came up with this,,,,,I love the fit and finish of these,,,

And L-style Punch and Caps works real well with them,,,,but costs to much,,,,Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

So I need someone with the Whizlock punch and caps to buy a set of these shafts and try the Whizlock system on it ,,, Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

I strongly suspect they will fit, but how well, I can't tell for sure as I don't have Whizzlocks.

These were one of my chosen carbon locked stems had I gone with the L/Whizz set-up. From pictures, the dimensions of the prongs or tines on the XCRs, as compared to deflectagrips, seemed similar in length, even though the XCR appears to be very slightly more streamlined than deflectas. Main problem I foresee are the Whizz caps still fitting loose in the flight.

It would be really interesting to find out how your proposed set-up works OJB!  Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

Ya for me,,,The Unicorn shafts and Shell lock caps I can get cheap here in the U.S. for cheap,,,, since I already have the punch ,,,,, But for anyone else looking to use their choice of flight on a tough,, light,, cheap carbon shaft with robin hood protection,,,,The Whizlock may be the ticket,,,,?

----UPDATE-----

After playing a few games with the L-flight caps on my Unicorn Sigma CR shafts with 75 micron Dimplex flights on my hard wood floor,,,The caps did not fit as tight as I would have liked ,,, several times on a bounce out the flight would shoot off ,, but I never lost the cap,,,,,and  nothing broke ,,,,, I am trying a set of 100 micron flights with Target Titanium rings next withe the Unicorn Sigma CR shafts,,,

P.S. I tried a set of the molded L-Style Flights that have the Champagne cups ,,, with a noticeably tighter fit ,,,Guests cannot see images in the messages.
