"Popcorn Batman"
Our group contains people of a wide range of skill/experience and we'd often play 'Cricket' or 'around the board'.
A few months ago I 'invented' a game that in a drunken flash of inspiration I nicknamed "Popcorn Batman".

To be honest it's just a variation on 'around the board' with the proviso that on a visit to the board your first target can be a single double or treble. Once hit you move onto the next number however you have to hit the Double/Treble and if succesful with that you then use your third dart to aim for the treble of the next number. On your next visit you are aiming for singles again regardless of what you hit on the previous go.

We find that it stops the good players from running rampant and gives lesser players a chance to stay within touching distance up to the Semi/Bull.
My group seem to really enjoy it... Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

I'm not sure I get the rotation of targets. Is it: Any, Double/Treble, Treble? So that if you hit a single 20, the next must be a double or treble 19, then a treble 18?

Do you throw at a particular target until it is hit?

- If it ain't broke, you might still be able to fix it.

As far as I understand, the game uses the cricket numbers and each trip to the oche starts with hitting a single. It slows down the more skilled players, because they are more likely to get just one mark at a time.

eg. Shot 1: hit S20, hit D19, miss T18. Shot 2: miss S18, hit S18, miss T17/D17. Shot 3: hit S17, miss T16/D16, miss T16/D16.

Equalizers are good. Too bad that chalkboards don't allow for stats collection to make handicaps in games useful. This one is good though.
