A few Questions about Points
Hi, I am from the US so I am not sure about the mm measurements of points, and also my reason for thinking of new points and how to do it.

I wanted to replace my points with the with the storm points that will eliminate the flat ridge where the point enters the barrel of my dart. It seems that the ridge is hitting the flight of a dart in the board and giving bounce outs and bad redirections into the board. Hoping a smooth point to barrel will eliminate some of these bounce outs. Does this make sense?

I have a set of darts and measuring the length of the point from the barrel to the point end is 1 and 1/8 inch. The measurements for the new points are either 26 or 30 mm. Not knowing how much of my present point is inside the barrel how do I know which point to buy? 30mm seems to be right but not sure.

Now, is it better to keep my present darts the way they are and just buy another set of the same darts but have the company repoint them for me because never having used the storm points I am not sure what that will affect if anything when shooting. Or buy something like a Designa repointer if available in the US and try it myself. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

If it's your first set I would let someone else do it or check on here as there may be a US member that might be able to help. I personally bought a repointer but knew I could change my teams every now and again to get a few quid back...the storms themselves get a mixed review as a search on here will prove...

You could try a set of tridents rather than jump straight in...this would give a similar effect to the storms and you would be able to tell if they make a difference

Hope that's of some help Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

Yes 30mm should do fine. What darts are you wanting them installed in? I can do it,I'm in the US. I've done alot of them!

Thanks for the offer however I am still not sure what to do. The darts are Joe Cullen Gold-22g, and I am in New Jersey.

After tonight's matches I am thinking the Vortex flights might just have too go and try a different design that gives the same results as a short term thing until I get over being not sure of what to do next. Thanks

A trial & error sort of solution may be to buy a set of Trident caps & see if that helps/ solves your problem, it would at least give you an idea as to what the storm points would be like with out the problem of altering the darts. Possibly a way out.

I can change your tips out to. Do try the trident caps, that's what they were designed for. I do custom works and mods and put that style ( rad ) on the nose of my dart. Check out my site Hands-On-Darts

Thanks for the suggestions I just ordered the trident 180 a set of 12. I will try this out before replacing my points and see how it goes. Hoping for the best thanks for the help.

Thanks for the suggestion about tridents. I put then on my darts before playing games tonight. I think they worked well since I heard the cling of barrels touching and flights hitting but no darts bouncing out even with the vortex flights that gave me the worst time. Hoping it continues to work tomorrow during the league matches.
