I reviewed the soft tip version of these darts recently, here is the review link: https://www.dartsnutz.net/showthread.php?tid=12194 This is the steel tip version and is the slightly longer barrelled model so is officially now the longest tungsten set I have thrown Guests cannot see images in the messages. Just like the soft tip version I tried these have two main sections on the barrel that have a very nice and grippy feel, I like to call them knuckle sections as they stand proud of the scallops, cant think of a better term really Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images. The two knuckle sections I would say are a high medium grip. The scallop sections are smooth but can still be used for grip placement it just depends where your grip falls and feels comfortable with. There is also a groove at the front and rear of the barrel which adds a little grip too.

WEIGHT:
Two barrels were an exact match and the other just two hundredths of a gram heavier, so rather good.

BALANCE:
Its kind of awkward to check the balance with the scallop making it hard to gauge correctly but the balance was around the centre:

With the supplied set up it moved very slightly towards the rear but again the scallop is making it hard to gauge:

MY GRIP WITH THESE DARTS:
With the soft tip version I felt very comfy holding around the first knuckle, but it was not the same with the steel tip version. I think its because of the slightly longer dimensions of the nose and scallop sections and also that the steel tip version has longer points and I like to rest my finger on the tip of the point. So I held this version closer to the nose and kind of half on the first scallop:

The darts landed flat in the board, I was kind of expecting them to though Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

CONCLUSION:
I seemed to get on better with this steel tip version than I did with the soft tips. I think its the increased weight more than anything that just made them feel a little better to throw.
The only problem I had is to do with having to grip these closer to the nose. The fact that I was allowing more of the barrel to be behind my grip meant I was hitting my face more lol
I guess its just the way I throw and it cant be helped but I had to adjust slightly which felt strange at first but the more I played with them the easier they got to throw and was eventually getting them flying rather well. The other slight issue with my grip being so close to the front was that I got a small amount of fishtailing but it seemed to correct itself quickly.
I did try throwing from the centre and also the rear, it felt well balanced at the centre but still weird for me and I threw fairly well from a rear grip surprisingly but seemed to make the dart spin a little?
I also tried throwing from the first knuckle like I threw the soft tip version, it was nice and stable and no fishtailing throwing from there but overall I felt more natural and comfy throwing from near the nose.
I tend to think the barrel is versatile enough to suit any style of grip but it depends on how your fingers marry up with the scallops and knuckles really.
The grippy knuckle sections are nice to grip so if your grip naturally falls into that part you should like them, the only other thing is if you think such a long dart will work for you. Its a strange one as the length seems to make the dart correct its flight quite quickly but in my case having to adjust my throw slightly to avoid hitting my face is a slight problem but like I said I got better with the darts the more I threw them. But if you already like a long barrel dart then you probably don't have that issue anyway, so I would say give these a go. Guests cannot see images in the messages.
