Peter Wright Snakebite PL15 24g darts review

video link = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tp13fZzA1vM

Ok I had these darts since the start of the Premier League but as some of you know my father passed away and I only half did the review but never had time to finish it until recently.

As you may or may not know there has been a slight change to the PL15 darts with the barrel being made a little longer and sleeker looking. I will call this review set the version one model then and the new updated barrel the V2 Guests cannot see images in the messages. Anyway these are the plain tungsten version which cost £26.90 from Red Dragon darts. They are 24g and 90% tungsten.

CONTENTS AND PACKAGING:

The darts come with the Red Dragon Xs-wallet and you get 3 sets of flights made up of 2 sets of Snakebite flights and 1 set of Team Red Dragon flights. There is 2 sets of alloy stems and a point protector:

The darts are a short barrel dart with a kind of bullet style shape. The front half of the barrel has a long taper and made up of wide bands with deep grooves, I would say its a medium level of grip and the rear is made of a mini shark style grip which is a high level. The darts are fitted with some very nice rainbow coloured points.

DIMENSIONS:

WEIGHT:

Barrels are fairly closely matched, two are very close and the heaviest is just 7 hundredths of a gram heavier than the lightest barrel:

BALANCE:

With nothing attached the barrel was very much centre weighted:

With the supplied set up it moved to the grippy rear section:

MY GRIP WITH THESE DARTS:

I think its safe to assume these are best for rear grippers with that very nice mini shark style grip on the rear but as they are a fairly short barrel I gripped almost close to the centre but had a try from the rear too Guests cannot see images in the messages. CONCLUSION:

When I first threw these I could tell they were not quite right for my very front grip, I kind of expected that though, but as the barrels are quite short they worked well from near the centre for me but surprisingly even better from the rear within reason as its not my natural throw, but overall they seemed very sweetly balanced at the rear and not sure why but I was particular good on doubles throwing them from the rear grip???

I know when I first got them I let my brother in law have a throw as he just recently took up the game and he seemed to be getting quite a few T20's which I thought was rather good as he is very new to darts. When I asked to see his grip on the dart I saw he was a natural rear gripper, although he said the darts felt a bit light, he was throwing very well with them!

I think its a very nice dart for rear grippers but I find it worked quite well with a centre grip but the physical grip of the barrel is so much better with that mini shark style grip of the rear section.

Darts are very nice overall and I am very curious to see if the updated version feels as nicely balanced as these do, although I suspect that with me been a natural front gripper and the barrels been rather short that the balance probably feels better to me personally. Judging by how my brother in law threw them though they should be a good dart for natural rear grippers. Guests cannot see images in the messages. In reply to the 2 above posts, not sure, might just keep them as they could be rare if they are not making any more Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

Very nice review as always. I have the same rare 24g, blue, PL15's.

This shape dart is a bit dual for me. Best grip for my throw, but no consistency.

Maybe the difference with my no. 1 darts, Mirage 24g, is that the weigth isn't well devided to the front and back.

I was throwing these for a few minutes earlier, just as I was deciding whether to keep them or not but I was throwing with a rear grip and hit 2 140's so I am keeping them lol Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

I am truly sad. It certainly is the perfect dart for me. I should have bought a second set of the 26g while I could. They still offer the blue version of the shorter barrel in 26g but I would prefer the natural one. Might have to get that dart custom made in the future Guests cannot see images in the messages. It seems that many darts players not coped with the PL15's gen 1. I have many PL15's seen offered. So I think you have a good chance on the sell/swap thread. Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

I might really contact reddragon. I kind of knew this might happen but usually barrels last so I didn´t worry super much that I have to get a spare set. However, with them being rare now it is less the damage I am worried about but the fact that they might get lost/stolen while out playing. Luckily, I recently bought a set of phase 6 really cheap. Initially just for the sake of collecting. It is a very similar dart apart from being a bit thinner and gippier. I still prefer that 1 extra g and the other grip on the snakbites, but might get used to the phase 6 also.
