Does one of these have a leg up on the other? Im experimenting with shaft length/flight combos and dont feel like spending a bunch on cosmo to figure out what i like the best. Gonna buy some cheaper nylons until i know what i like. Gripper vs pro grip, which is better?
Unicorn Gripper vs Target Pro Grip?

My recommendation is to get Deflectagrip (the most economical solution), unless you need special gradient colors.
Progrip/Supergrip/Proplast are all better durability-wise than Unicorn Gripper.
Hey thanks! I can pick up the deflectagrip pretty cheap on Amazon.
One more thing to consider is the specific length you want. For example medium pro grip stems are 47 mm long but the gripper mediums are 44,3 mm long.
Im in the USA so shipping usually kills me. Picked up 6 sets of deflectagrips shorts for 6$ with free shipping. The sellers name is "Dart broker" and they actually have an online store. Funny thing is it was cheaper for me to order them from Amazon, than directly from their store.
I've tried Gripper 2's and 3's and far prefer the Pro Grips. As stated be careful on the lengths. Pro Grip mediums are indeed longer than the Grippers, not sure about other lengths. I find the Pro Grips hold flights better, are easier to get the flights in in the first place, and are more durable. Only positive on the Grippers are the flight holding spring setup. It is superior. My opinion, for what it is worthGuests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.
I use pro grip on my Lewis now and I like them very much. Every stem can break or bent. The Lewis flights fit great with
slot-locks so my combi is perfect. I use gripper3 on my Lowe and the meastro flights and Sigma hold not so good.
At the risk of becoming a human dartboard (I think popular opinion disagrees with me), I might suggest an anodized aluminum option. $0.40 for deflectagrip nylon vs $1.00 for aluminum. Either set is still less than a pack of gum. That said...,
I love the flat colors of the Gripper 3, especially the black. Nothing else. They break and spit flights like mad. Thus, I hate them. Pro Grip is vastly superior. Others have specified the length difference between the two medium stems. A Medium Pro Grip stem weighs 1.29g and Gripper 3 weighs 1.05 for a difference of 0.24g. (W/rings-springs) I had a dart with medium Gripper 3s that was perfectly balanced for me. I got tired of picking up flights from the floor and put a set of Pro Grips on. The length and weight difference threw the dart off. I eventually settled on a set of tweeny anodized aluminum. This is a true story from a dart hack. Take what ya want.
I didn't know about the difference in length of Gripper & Pro Grip which is interesting to know,, on a purely personal basis I have a LOT less breakage with Grippers and flights seem to stay in better,
I have been using the Gripper 3's with Harrow's punched flights....whenever I Robin Hood, the Gripper 3 will not hold. The gripper 3 is a great set up with a set of Harrow's Wolframs I use, but constantly breaking. I bought a set of DataDart Nylons 4 months ago, Robin Hooded last night, no breakage. So frustrating to get a good set up that doesn't last a week...
I would love to stop Robin Hoods...easier said than done though
In my experience the rings on the target pro grips are absolutely worthless, they break if your dart only touches them. Only used unicorn grippers with my softtip but they held up pretty well. My personal favorites are the Harrows supergrip the rings can take a beating (they have bent but never broke). I Robin Hooded both pro grips and supergrips but they all break if you are unlucky.

Only thing is they don't work with Gripper 3's - are difficult to get on the stem and keep popping off. I can confirm they work superbly well with Target Progrips, Laro's, L-shafts, Harrows supergrips and dimplex. You really need to buy a set of the titanium rings and use them instead. Those rings rarely, if ever, break (02-27-2016, 03:34 AM)4737 Carlin Wrote:(02-26-2016, 09:40 PM)cloonatic Wrote: I have been using the Gripper 3's with Harrow's punched flights....whenever I Robin Hood, the Gripper 3 will not hold.
