Hey people, hope your all doing OK.
I was wondering to myself this morning, with the standard bull of 5 foot 8 being eye level for a 6 foot man, does this affect shorter men/women?
I don't think it will or does, but would be nice to hear some peoples views. I did previously have my board at eye level for me ( The previous owner had set it up wrong, I've now corrected it), since correcting I don't notice my scores being any worse so doubt there is anything to it.
I'm 5 foot 6, avereage in the UK is 5 Foot 8, so I'm a little bit short lol.
Is there anyone on here who is really small, and finds it affects them?

Phil Taylor is only around 5'8" or thereabouts and he hasn't had a bad career - so no, being tall or short isn't an advantage. The only disadvantage if you are really short is you may need to stand on a chair to get your darts out of the board lol.

It doesn't seem to, plenty of shorter players have done well while taller players have struggled. It's more how you set up your darts and make them fly so height is not always an issue.
On a side note would people of restricted growth, those who would qualify as Para athletes, use the lower board height the same as wheelchair users?

At league night last week, I watched a 5’ woman beat a 6’3” guy (in individual cricket and 301 games) like he was the proverbial red-headed stepchild. Her 301 double-in number of preference was the D20.

height has nothing to do with it but I can see why people think it does matter in the sense that a taller player would be more eye level with the T20 but there is so many great short players that it obviously makes no difference. Also very tall guys like Van Der Voort lean so much forward that their height negates any perceived advantage, unless they think leaning forward and being closer to the board is the best way to use their height?

I think when you are taller the D20 is less easy. I find that the natural angle of my throw (I'm 180cm or 6'0 and have an arm span of 184cm) is for D16 or D15 in fact if I have three darts to get 40 I'll often go 20 D10.
Although that might all in my head and not anything to do with height.

I play with a 6'7" guy who appears to have no advantage. When I watch him throw, I wish he had his reach, though.
I'm 6 feet and "not skinny" and I have to lean a bit extra on the low stuff to keep my ribcage from getting in my way.
26's so far this year: I've already lost count. :-)

As someone 6'8", no. Definitely not. Also you wany to punch people who say 'that's not fair, you can just put the darts in the board, heheh' like they're the first people ever to say it really hard. In the throat.

It's a fact that tall people are more successful. They graduate college at a higher success rate, have better jobs and make more money. So based on that I'd have to say shorter people tend to hang out in bars more often and probably end up playing more darts than tall people. So advantage goes to shorter people based on world economy. Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

Mmmmm.....pardon me for channeling my inner blond yet again, but I've seen Jack, my Darting Cat, hit the 20 from a standing start at the oche....he's 7" at the shoulder....and, well, he chases the dart to the board, almost beating it there....height does not seem to be a challenge there. His "owner" however, is another story...:-). He's a "fur people"- and a nut about darts....does that count?

I didn't realise taylor was 5 foot 8, he looks taller. I didn't think it would offer an advantage, and now some taller people have clarified that also.
I also wonder if people who are extremely short, say with dwarfism, do they throw at wheelchair dart height or normal board height and use a chair?
