Nerves when on a 180?
I have noticed a lot that when I get two T20's my nerves shoot up when it comes to throwing the third dart, I don't know if this is a psychological thing where I want a 180 too much the pressure gets to me! I don't throw looking for a 180 though, I throw looking to group and have consistent darts but when I do get two T20's I get nervous! I get quite a few 140's each day but that's mostly if I hit 20 with the first dart then two T20's.

Does anyone else have a similar problem and get nervous when on a 180?

When I was trying to get my first one absolutely! Its only natural I would think.

Trying not to put too much emphasis on getting a 180 should help. Or switch to 19's on your last dart, 177's are way cooler Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

I get nervous just thinking of it. If i hit the first T20 I say "here we go again". Someone pointed out hat aiming for the T20 isn't what you want to do but aiming for the flight of one of the darts in the group. If you do that maybe it'll ease the pressure. Aiming for the flight has the potential of causing a deflection though. Good luck

There is a really good post on the Beginners page in the Threads section called "How to get a 180" or something similar by Getagrip! Its a couple of images which are very helpful and after reading them I hit my first 180! Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

I had this before two years ago now not anymore and i dont throw alot atm but still i hit them hehe, just think that is normal 20's

Yep totally normal. When I started hitting 2 x t20 my 3rd dart would fly a lot of time near the d20 or out the board. With practice it becomes a lot easier to fill it up.
Don't Think just throw. The slightest pause in your rhythm can be disastrous.

Aim at the darts and not the bed and it will fill up more regular Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.

I still get nervous lol, most of my 180's I have hit without realizing it was a 180 until I got to the board, usually I may see the first go in clearly but the second may land a bit awkward and I cant tell if its in or not then I think it makes it easier to get the third. When I see the first 2 go in clearly I cant help but think "Got to get this one in too" and I usually have put pressure on myself by thinking that and so often I miss, damn another 140! But yeah its all mental really, the more you think about it the harder it will be to just let the dart flow.

Like everyone has said this is fairly normal. Once you get a few they definitely get easier and come more often. What I do find interesting is people saying to aim for you dart or flight, something I have never done. When I'm throwing my concentration is on the bed and no where else. I can't imagine aiming at my dart or flight, just seems like a sure way to get tons of deflections. Again I may be wrong but this is the first time I have heard this and I have hit my fair share of 180's. Maybe something for me to try.

Sometimes after I hit two T20's my third dart is so inaccurate haha!

LOL I know the feeling, I worry less about it now as I just cant help that strange throw cropping up, its more like a stutter jerk/twitch so I just accept it, if I get a 140 then that's ok its when it goes so wild it almost misses the board lol!

I don't get enough 180's to comment on this lol

I'm a little overdue to hit one and am no expert but....think about it this way - instead of adding pressure, you've already done the hard work and you have the groove going. Just groove the last one in, no pressure at all.

Easier said than done but maybe a bit of reverse psychology might help. Good luck!!

I try and keep calm after I hit two T20's but I think I probably concentrate too much on trying to remain calm!

I try an stay cool when throwing the last dart but I think the excitement of getting a 180 messes me up!

No... not really any additional pressure. The probability of my hitting one T20 is minimal, the probability of my hitting two in a row is infinitesimal and the probability of my hitting a third one in a row are is close to zero. Since the likelihood of my nailing a 180 is close to non-existent, I don’t feel any additional pressure at all.

If I ever develop any significant level of shooting accuracy and consistency, I may fall prey to pressure if/when I get to that level. It doesn’t look like that’ll be soon.
