Shape
- Bullet shape Lowe/Taylor style
Suitable for
- People looking for a cost conscious set of darts who like a uniform grip that cover the entire length of the barrel
- People who prefer a thicker barrel. If you are a fan of the Harrows Pinz you won’t get much from this review Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.
Grip level
- Using a 1-5 scale I would say no more than a 3
Conclusion
- Very nice set of darts for a budget conscious price
- Uniform grip will work for all styles of gripping the barrel
- Not for the fans of longer, thinner barrels
Now this is never going to be the most popular set of darts on the market and I think they have been out for quite a while but I wanted to write a review on them because I was so pleasantly surprised by them.
A bit about me: I am currently using a set of Unicorn Phase 5’s and that is a shape and size of dart barrel that I really like. I don’t really get along with 50mm barrels for whatever reason so I tend to stick with the Lowe/Taylor style.
I ordered the Assassin’s for a couple of reasons. First I was looking for a dart similar to the Phase 5 that had a grip right the way to the back of the barrel as I grip very close to the stem. These check that box. Secondly, I think I paid 13 quid for them ($26 ish) brand new, so for that price it was worth giving them a try.
I have to say for the price, these are more than worth it. They have been fun to throw. The grip at the back of the barrel has been working great for me. The grip is not as grippy/aggressive as I expected it to be however. Viewing the zoomed in pics online I actually expected to the grip to be much more aggressive than it is in my hand. There is still enough there for me to not have to lick my fingers before each throw (gross, I know) which is what I found myself doing with the Phase 5 due to the smooth profile on the back of the barrel.
The points on these I found to be quite sharp out of the box. Obviously this is easily fixed but they were definitely much sharper out of the box than the Phase 5’s.
Now I don’t have a micrometer or a decent scale handy (total rookie reviewer here) so I have no clue if these are weight matched or not. There was no mention of it on the box. For the price I’m not sure if I would expect them to be weight matched to be honest.
In conclusion, I really like this set of darts and I’m glad I decided to purchase them. If you are looking to try this style of dart and don’t want to spend too much, I would say these are definitely worth a look. The only thing I would really change on them is that the grip be touch more aggressive.
