Top Gear: live shows in doubt after Jeremy Clarkson’s suspension
|
Don't watch the programme and can't stand the bloke - but it makes the beeb far too much money for them to get rid of him. It will be another slap on the wrists and they will give him a new contract in a couple of months time

I've watched Top Gear for awhile now...even back when Tiff was on. I'm a Clarkson fan and even go out of my way to read his newspaper editorials. The thing with Jeremy is that 95% of the comments he make are done tongue-in-cheek just to get a reaction. He loves being bombastic/hyperbolic and is an equal opportunity offender...he'll make fun of anyone or anything. When he makes fun of Americans for being fat and liking crappy cars, I'm always laughing and never get offended...if you're offended easily, you shouldn't be watching Top Gear in the first place. He makes great television and there is a reason why that show is so popular. Yeah, all of the hosts can be one trick pony's at one time but that's the nature of the beast when you've been doing so many seasons together. I hope Clarkson doesn't go away, he's a dying breed in television in the age of overly political correctness...sometimes it's just refreshing to get some bluntness even if you don't agree with it. Most car review shows put me to sleep but Top Gear is always entertaining. After all of the these years the 3 hosts have such incredible chemistry with each being so different than the other. Every automobile review show (present and future) will always be judged against Top Gear....and Clarkson is huge reason behind that.
If you know a tv host is outspoken without a filter and you're easily offended, simply pick another tv show to watch...there are hundreds to choose from. Jeremy is a pain in the ass but for the fans of the show it feels like he's our special pain in the ass that we hope will never go away. I am not a fan of Top Gear or cars for that matter but this needs to be said more often. People are so easily offended nowadays it's ridiculous! But punching someone is another matter entirely...
Huge fan of top gear, hope they go to another channel rename it but top gear are that trio no replace can be happend.
Can't see why it would effect the live shows, they're nothing to do with the BBC.
I like Top Gear but I would not say I am a big Clarkson fan, I can watch him without feeling I want to punch him in the face and he makes me laugh sometimes but I would not class myself as a fan of his but I do think the show wont be the same without all 3 of them on it. I don't mind that he speaks his mind though but at the same time I don't think he should be allowed to think he can get away with doing as he pleases without consequence.
Her's an example of where their tongue-in-cheek bravado/humor was actually crass stupidity...and it almost cost them too.
https://www.topgear.com/uk/tv-show/series-9/episode-3 Ok, the set up...they each get a car that they buy for $1,000 apiece, paint slurs and bombastic remarks on each others cars and head for the Alabama border! Wow! Genius! Then they go on and on about how backwards the USA South is. I'm not going to argue that point, but what they did was stupid, maybe entertaining, but stupid, really. OK! Here's an idea BBC. Get 3 Mini Coopers emblazoned with the Union Jack, like Austin Powers! Head up to the Scottish border. Paint stuff like..."Kilts are Man-Dresses"..."Haggis Sucks"..."Bagpipers are Windbags".... even better...."Scotland will ALWAYS answer to Westminster!" Yeah baby! Shaggalishis! Have a drone follow them because anyone following in vehicles may be in peril. Good luck with that! I dare you! I double-dog dare you! They'd NEVER do that...they wouldn't survive.... but...it probably would be entertaining!
Well judging by what apparently happened he is finished, at least on the BBC.
30mins of verbal abuse to a production assistant calling him a ******* Irish **** - that alone would be enough in most cases but to the smash the bloke in the mouth and leaving him needing hospital treatment - well being fired may be the least of his worries. I like Clarkson, in fact I totally agree, some people are far too easily offended and the world has gone stupid with all the PC rubbish but to physically assault a bloke over having no hot food provided, well he is in bother for that, and thats for certain. :boxing: (03-14-2015, 04:01 PM)REBEL Wrote: Well judging by what apparently happened he is finished, at least on the BBC. Orrrrrrr...... they could try the same as I suggested above and take a ferry to County Cork Ireland.... paint: "Guinness Sucks"....."Only f****** Irish c***s wear Green"....etc...etc..... THAT would be hilarious! Their bodies and Coopers would float out to sea on the River Lee.
I'm surprised they never got shot doing the one in southern U.S. never mind doing one like that in Scotland

Hey look, good fun, I DO enjoy watching the program it's just that when they do something stupid and jump on a soap box....Duh! They were accused by Teslar of rigging the "dead battery"-pushed back to the shop episode too. Maybe they thought that would be funny, but if they did it intentionally.... |
