I'm pretty new to darts, and have a problem. Whenever I throw my darts, when they land in the board, they are landing at all different angles, some pointing right, some left, and some land nose down.
I've tried different length stems and flights. I don't know if I'm throwing them too hard or too light or something like that.
Has anyone else had this problem?

The answer to your question is in the first 5 words you typed.
As you improve and your consistency gets better you'll be able to throw all 3 darts identical.

It has to do with your throwing action/how you release the dart. I tell people to keep it simple when you first start out. Just use Standard sized flights and medium/intermediate length stems. Don't mess around with different combinations until you develop a more consistent throw....you're just adding extra variables that could affect the flight of the darts when instead your focus should be 100% on the throw itself.
Just keep a looser grip (tight enough to where the dart doesn't slip out but loose enough to where the dart releases easily)...then just throw the speed that feels natural. There is no "right" speed of the throw...just throw what feels the best/most accurate for you.
Try to work on being smooth, giving the dart a clean release out of your hands, following through with your arm (after releasing the dart, your arm should still keep moving towards the board/extended fully out), and try to keep as still as possible during your throw.
You'll begin to see more consistency in no time...then you can start messing with flights/stem lengths to find a suitable angle that works for you.

Part of the solution might also be in just a detail of your grip/release. If you reduce it to basics darts are always mainly thrown with 2 fingers. Some people indeed jut hold the dart with 2 fingers. However, many people touch the dart with more than 2 fingers while throwing, which is ofc ok. I don´t know how you hold your dart, but it sounds as if you keep contact with the dart with always a different finger while releasing. So depending on which finger it is the direction of the dart changes. This problem is most prominent if you for example hold your dart with all fingers. Then it requires some practice to release it in the same way taking of all fingers as required while releasing.

Pretty much what's been said. Reg Summed it up nicely.... keep the Shaft/Flight set to Standard and Medium length... concentrate on Throwing Action/Release
The inconsistency is to do with your Action and release.... Relax the Arm, and the Hand, and follow through the motion after Dart release to be pointing where you want the Dart to go... and repeat Ad Nauseam. Also on a side note, try to keep your upper Arm and elbow still when Pulling back and releasing forward, especially more important when releasing forward.

+1 with consistency of grip/throw/release being everything... I’m back into shooting after ~20 years away from steel-tip darts, so I’m experiencing being a beginner all over again. Re-establishing consistency of grip, throw and release isn’t happening easily or quickly, but the effect of an erratic throw can be seen easily and quickly. The dart being >2” away from where I wanted it to land or the tail pointing left, right or down stands out like a sort thumb and I can almost always tell it was a bad throw before the dart even lands. Mustering and maintaining the focus, concentration and discipline to keep my throws consistent is probably my biggest problem.

What they said....stick to basic setup (kinda like what came with the darts), then practice....as much as you feel like. Have you signed up for Flight School? I am most certainly not at the level of play as these guys, but, when I did that, and implemented what George gave me, it really helped. I am a big fan of George and Flight School. Its free, go to the section here about it, and sign up. Really happy to see a lady interacting on the forum.

Many reasons are possible:
- bad technique
- non-suiting setup (stem, flight)
- non-suiting darts.
The first is an obvious guess with every beginning player. If you can, upload a short video showing your throw (full body), to get some hints. The second is experience, and any "standard setup" should give you something to work with. I wouldn't have thought about the third point, until I got a set of barrels I can hardly get to stick in the board - so yes, it's possible to get a set that won't work for you (but unlikely).

I practiced some more earlier with Conan and as I focused more about my technique the darts were going in straight most of the time and near the target. I still have a long way to go yet but its really fun and its the only hobby I have tried to stick to since I was 12!
I will also sign up to flight school and see what that is about.
