That was one of the most refreshing interviews.
He doesn't jam it down your throat you need to practice for 6 hours everyday, or spend hours only throwing at doubles, or to ignore just throwing at 20s (just the opposite, he throws a lot at 20's!), etc.. I like his 20's game....10 rounds, see if you can get over a 1000. Just simple stuff. It seems similar to my practice sessions. He seems to be in the mindset of having fun while practicing....if you find it tedious to throw 5hrs at every double, don't do it. I'll even go out on a limb and say Bob's 27 is one of the worst practice games you can play. It doesn't help at all with a real match scenario. For example, while playing Bob's and you're trying to hit double 4 and come inside for a single 4 you HAVE to stay there for the next 2 darts. In a real match you would drop down to double 2. I like Gary's idea's. Keep it simple.
Agreed I like it too. also like the two games, 1000 points plus the 5 points then move to the next number, fail go back.
The ability to hold your concentration and stay focused for long periods of time
is built from long hours of practice and play. Doing this builds physical stamina and the ability to focus for long periods of time. It would seem there are exceptions to this and their ability comes easy, to others many hours of hard work need to be done to compete. How nice it would be to have so much natural ability like Gary Anderson.

Just play an amended version where if you drop inside, you switch, or just move onto the next double because you've bust? In a real match you would drop down to double 2. I play in a SIDO league so I practice my doubles for finishing. When I do double drills like Bob's 27 and Around The World I just don't feel right going inside as I know it wouldn't help me in a game. On ATW I'd be much happier with 3 well thrown darts on the outside wire of D16 than S7-S16-D16. I approach each double in these games as if it were the double I needed to win a game of 501.
I've always liked the guy and keeping things simple does help. But the more practice the better I think.
